    Congrats Ron Paul

Looks like a solid third place. A lot better than those 5th place victories.

lol I actually like a lot of what Ron Paul says and stands for. But to expect to win the Republican nomination on his platform was not reasonable.

Ron Paul has accomplished a ton this election including reminding us what a conservative Republican really is about. Dont think he didnt hurt Mccrazy and his chances of getting elected, and thats all that matters to me at this point.

You are wrong. A ton of undecided and conservative Republicans will be voting Democrat this time around. Ron Paul helped expose the rest to be war mongers and not very conservative. He affected it plenty, believe that home slice.

You think he kept McCain from getting elected?

Any damage he may have done was completely offset by the Democrat's nominees.

That was Paul's goal? To run as a Republican to get people to vote Democrat?

I'm not entirely sure you know what you are talking about. A short sighted opinion is one thing. Taking into account Republican voters as a whole is another.

No republican will swing to vote democrat because Ron Paul "exposed" something. It may help keep the independents AWAY from Repub... but Paul did nothing. Be realistic, please.

I'm sure mccain will miss that whole five percent of the vote. Alot of which probably weren't even republicans to begin with.

                          You're right. Ignore the idiots.

Ron Paul was about a message. That message was heard.

I never said that was his goal, but he helped accomplish it. He won almost every straw poll with ideals that dont suit the crazy neo cons running the Republican party. At the debates he helped point out the huge faults in all of their campaigns. He pointed out the war that Mccain is basing his run on flawed foreign policy in a war we cannot afford. He pointed out the change in the Republican party and how little the rest of the candidates understand our economy. You are an idiot to think him being at the debates did nothing to hurt Mccains chances.

So he helped to accomplish a goal which is probably not even his goal? If his intention is to hurt McCain he should run as an independent. The last poll on it showed that he would take a good 8% from McCain. Presumably then that is NOT his goal. Whose goal is it then? Yours?

There was a poll about two months ago that showed he would hurt the Republicans by running.

Again, I never said it was his goal. Lets just say it gives me a fuzzy feeling knowing that Mccain will not be the next President because Ron Paul opened up some peoples eyes to Mccains ignorance.

It's just sort of silly to assume Paul potentially could have anything to do with this.

You seem like a "cause" person. IE Paul failed. But he will win in the end because he stopped McCain from winning.

Why not just admit defeat and realize Paul failed.

For the record: My sister in law and mother in law in CA voted for Paul because I turned them on to him and his policies and as FEVERANT belligerent asshole Christian Republicans, they liked him.

I just know when something means nothing, and Paul had no impact on McCain voters or non voters.

Because I am not offended by others opinion when its made out of spite and ignorance. If you think Mccain and the other lackey Republicans would have been called out on his wacko war and economy opinions if Ron Paul hadnt been at the debates then you are just commenting with your emotions rather than using your brain. Paul personally made FOX look like the garbage network they are, and even got the GOP to pull their sponserhip of debates. Yeah, Paul didnt hurt the Mccains chances when thats the only Network stuck up the war mongers asses.

Spite and ignorance? You clearly missed the part where I had 2 voters go to Paul. I thought his campaign was great, but his failure is clear.

This is not worth discussing anymore, I thought I might be able to talk to you even despite seeing how feverish you are on this board about Paul especially. It's borderline obsessive, clearly.

No one said Paul didn't "call them out" on the war. It's just that it didn't matter. Did McCain lose votes? No, completely the opposite. McCain managed to go from 13% and 3rd place on November 16th, 2007 to 62% and 1st place on March 1st, 2008? Paul kept talking, McCain kept gaining.

This thread just proves how Ron Paul did not fail. Where are the Rudy threads the Edwards threads?

ADL keep telling yourself its over and it will roll right over you. Neo-cons ie Bush1 Clinton1 Bush2 McCain Obama did not gain power over night.

And those who think failure = losing this election are dead wrong.

But to try and turn 3rd place into some sort of victory doesn't make any sense. We've been over this. 3rd is not 1st. 6.5% of the vote is NOT a victory for Paul or his "message".

The paper concluded that high turnout in primaries was just a function of how close the primaries were.

Like you said states choose if party lines can be crossed at the voting booth. Why do you think that should be changed and how? More federal rules and bigger government?

I read Rand and Hayek and was enamored with Milton Friedman. Without looking, do you know who the libertarian party candidate for president was in 1988. No? Look it up. Now what is it that you think I have no clue about?

I know you think a revolution is coming. Your generation will change the world. Gonna overthrow the existing hierarchy. "This is only the beginning". Right? You really think people older than you don't realize the younger generation will grow up? We *were*those younger people. We've already seen it. Of course we realize it. What you are being woefully blind to is the fact that Ron Paul isn't winning with the youth vote. he does better there but he isn't winning. Huckabee's younguns will grow up too. As will McCains. As will Obama and Clintons.

The US is changing at a reasonable pace. I don't see any magical about it and despite advertising and marketing slogans to the contrary I don't think McCain, Obama or Clinton embodies "change" anymore than Clinton or Bush did.

He is a career politician at the end of his career. Who will carry on the "revolution"? The Libertarian Party that has only managed 1% of the vote once in the past 20 years? Why is it a "revolution" anyway? Paul's beliefs are essentially libertarian. The US Libertarian Party has been around for 40 years and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
