WE CAN find and punish the person who threw this dog though. That is what I believe is bringing out the most compassion from people. The fact that we (a small group of people or a single individual) can do something about it.
If I can do something to save these 100 girls from being raped or punish those who did it, and have it happen right away, then by all means tell me what it is that we can do.Comment

It's a natural emotional response to feel more for something we are all attached to. When a child is murdered, people who are parents have much stronger emotional thoughts to the story than someone who isn't a parent. Pet owners to stories about pets. Americans to Americans. Many of us are attached to pets emotionally, when we see a puppy being thrown off a cliff by an American soldier, it bothers us. When we hear a story about an Iraqi man who was killed, we don't have any emotional ties and thus don't feel the same.
You can call it disturbing but I think it's just a natural human response.Comment

I'm not missing that point at all, I don't think - however, as a U.S. citizen with various obligations, there's not a whole lot I can do about it on a global scale... except maybe keep doing what I'm doing by financially supporting organizations such as Amnesty International and the ACLU; calling/writing my representatives on various torture, human rights, and criminal release measures; and maybe serving my time as a juror when the opportunity comes along.
And I do all of that: regularly - as I'm sure others here do, as well.
Now, _you_ seem to think that just because witnessing a cold-blooded killing bothers us, we're all hypocrites because all of the other world's 'evils' haven't come to an end.
I have no problem seeing that there's other 'evils' in the world - but one thing at a time, eh? Show me a video of a U.S. soldier (as they're an entity that is reportable to _me_) killing a human outside the bounds of his/her duty as a solider - or raping someone, and I'll write and dispatch 3 letters, myself, tonight.
Until then... we got this to discuss and deal with.. (even if you don't think, as I do, it's all related, anyways)
And if you don't think there's enough being done in regards to the other 'evils' in the world - maybe get more involved, yourself, eh? There's always ways to become more involved... and you seem to have energy to expend on the issues.
Because I can't see the prospect of much success if running around and ranting "my 'evil' is more 'evil' than your 'evil'" all day.-D.

I'm also going to add that I really think this video may be a fake. I don't know how you can throw a puppy that far and have it spin like that in mid-air. The yelping also doesn't really fade away as the dog moves farther away. The puppy never struggles in the guys arms either.Comment

Whatever you say about needing meat to sustain health which is not true, you can live and be healthy without meat. And do people not ENJOY eating meat? Just because you take a blind eye to how animals are treated and killed before they are served to you means nothing.

Please stop comparing dogs to chickens and cows. A dog is a companion that would gladly give its life to defend you. Not many people would even do that.A dog gives nothing but love and loyality. I read a story in Iraq they use bomb sniffing dogs, it was two marines two dogs. They got hit with a scrap metal bomb. One marine made it and told the medics to take care of his dog first. He saw his friend was dead on the road, his friends dog covered in blood, bleeding from all over. What little life he had left tried to stand over a protect the dead marine til he died on top of him. This isnt a fucking chicken and that soldier who threw the puppy, should be thrown out of the army.Comment

And where in Iraq do you get an exact replica of a puppy being carried by the scruff of its neck? It also dangles like it has the correct weight which should be about 10 pounds, which is not that hard to chuck 20 feet when you're a strong 22 year old(yes, his identity is known).
Also, puppies become docile and immobile when grabbed back there, because it simulates their mother doing it. Think about what you are saying.

There are people all over the internet saying this is fake but they have they all seem to have the social skills of a doornob. None of them offer any specific evidence that it is somehow fake. Some say the dog was "switched out". Some say it was stuffed animal.
1: Why would a cuople of guys with IQs just high enogh to wipe their asses go to such lenghs to finds stuffed animal that looks exactly like a 12 week old mutt that is in the exact position of being held by the neck?
2. Also, they would have to add the sound effects.
3. Even if the dog was dying or dead (and they added the sound efects) it is still sadistic and shows disrespect for life in general.
4. I invite all of you who think this is insignificant to go out and rescue on dog (or any animal) you find on the streets or in a shelter. Raise up that dog and get him to trust humans again. Slowly that dog, along with the universe, will give back to you 1000 fold.

A large part of the reason the world is so fucked up is because of how little many people value life. They do not value the health of the planet or the future of the animals that have roamed the earth long before they arrived.
People cannot just expect to go on treating amimals and the evnironment as their barbage dump and expect for their lives to get better.

There have been millions of news stories bigger than this one which have been ignored by the likes of CNN, FOX, and every other source of news aimed at the blithering masses.
In the video you can hear the name "Motari" and someone has already been tracked down with that name. He is in Iraq and looks similar but is difficult to be certian since in the video he is wearing so much gear.
I called the phone number and heard a voice mail with female voice. You kind of get the idea it is his wife by the way she speaks about the "Motari Family".
I left a very nice message asking her to defend Mr. Motari by givng her media contacts as well as a few message boards where his personal info is being splattered.
A senseless torgure killing of a puppy is bad, but to ruin a person's good name is even worse. So I am not going to post his info anywhere until we find out the truth and the true identity of the man in the video.
If this turns out the be the guy in the video then he can expect me to be sending it to any new employer he has once he leaves the military. All of his neighbors will be seeing the video, and a copy will be sent to his local law enforcement so they may use it as character evidence in the event he is charged with a violent crime.Comment

I used to live in Seattle and I promise you that there are already carloads of people gassing up their hybrid cars and departing on road trips to this address.
