I will kill people in a war, but that wouldn't change the fact that I wouldn't harm an innocent puppy.
Sure, if I desperately needed too in the course of war if he got in my way, would expose me or something of that nature; but to just throw one off a cliff for fun is fucking stupid.
He needs to be punished for what he did. There are situations when you need to kill, this wasn't one of them. Weak minded people might be wanted by the leaders for a war, but they are also some of the worst people to fight in a war at the same time.Comment

Are you joking? The military has explicit codes of conduct, and there must be something in there against abusing animals as well as humans one encounters in a war zone, not to mention more general codes of dishonorable conduct that one can run afoul of for a variety of offenses.Comment

I completely agree with you. Only certain people react to experiences by developing sociopathic characteristics, and he bears full responsibility. Nevertheless, his experiences are probably one of the main causes for his current personality.

American soldiers are not trained to take perverse delight in killing enemy soldiers or civilians or animals. There is no comparison to civilian animal control ending the life of a stray animal humanely with some dickhead with no regard for the uniform he represents laughing hysterically as he flings a helpless creature to it's death. If his commanding officer saw this, and no one was around to stop them they would probably kick this guys ass to teach him a lesson before handing him over to the authorities for prosecution and a dishonorable discharge.Comment
