Car Accidents in Shanghai China - 9000 a year

anyone know how many accidents there were in NY??

Shanghai saw 9,000 traffic accidents in 2007 alone, which resulted in more than 1500 deaths. Very sad news.

There were 9,132 accidents reported in the city in 2007, resulting in 1,699 deaths, the city?s safety authorities announced yesterday.

The number of accidents was down 25.7 percent on last year, while the death toll dropped by 5.6 percent compared to 2006

    Usa

There were an estimated 6,420,000 cars involved in accidents in the US in 2005. The cost of these accidents exceeds 230+ Billion dollars.

There were about 2.9 million injury cases and 42,636 car accident deaths.

An average of 115 persons die each day in motor vehicle crashes in the United States -- one every 13 minutes.

According to the World Health Organization about 3000 people die in crashes each day worldwide.

I think china has so few because all I ever see people on is bikes and mopeds. Do those count? I bet tons of those scooters get creamed every year there.

I couldn't locate any hard numbers on L.A. or NYC without spending too much time on this, but I bet its in the 20 or 30,000 range for a large metropolitan city area.
