This is what I meant...I've heard of all kinds of people in history being hung, I didn't ever hear of it being solely black people or even majority black.

The symbol of lynching (or a noose) transcends the actual act, in America. It's a symbol of oppression that transcends the very fabric of that country -- from its foundation to modern-day life. Every ethnic group (like every person) has subjects that they hold in close contempt, and most people strike out when theirs is hit.

Whether or not it would be beneficial to just get over it, it's not going to happen and should be treated as such, Positive interaction over demanding people just ignore their heritage will make the subject fade into history much more effectively.

A noose typically is strictly for hanging. I don't see why it should be the symbol (though, I can see the point of this thread a little better now if you are associating it as such).

i dont know where you are from but in the US "Lynching" has a pretty specific meaning in terms of how its used. basically means a mob hanging someone outside the justice system.

its not a question of someone making some bizarre association, its a question of common usage and historical context
