After the OH trail Johnny Cochran went after pretty much every police department in the nation and found out which of them had officers that ran OJ's plate while the chase was on in LA. He argued that they had no legal reason to run that plate (any that did it were doing it just out of curiosity) and he got a settlement from most of the departments that had officers that did it. I don't know how much it came too, but it was a nice amount.
