I had one too and that thing was pretty tank like. I backed into a concrete pole at a gas staion once, knocked the pole out of the ground and the only damage to my bumber was some yellow paint off the pole. I also did a 360 on a rain covered street and slammed sideways into a construction baracade. Put a couple of dents in the car but, the thing kept on going. Had a huge, full size truck back into me as I was sitting behind it waiting to get out of a parking lot (gal driving decided to turn left, not right and backed up without looking). Dinged my right fender and busted my grill but, that was it. Still 100% driveable. That car had 130k miles on it when I finally traded it in. It didn't look pretty but, it was still going strong.

First was a VW Beetle of course. (weird semi-automatic transmission)
Second car was an even better VW Beetle. (sunroof, ran good)
Third car was a 79 (and a half) Toyota Supra. (first year supra, werid issues)
Fourth was an Audi 5000. (most comfortable car I ever drove or sat in, had lots of small problems though)
Fifth and current is a Saturn. (boring, no style, gets the job done exceptionally well)43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.

1987 Ford Taurus. My grandmother told me she'd go halvsies on me up to whatever amount I would spend... and I had talked a local business owner into letting me buy his old company car off him for a song... but while spending every dime I had, short of a tank of gas and insurance, in the process.-D.

1994 Geo Metro Hatchback
3 cylinder automatic with a red hood, white body, and mechanic logos on the door
I got if for $600. You could turn it off without putting it in park, the car would start randomly, the passenger side window wouldn't stay up, they key was broke off in the ignition so you could start it with a screwdriver... Craptastic car, but it got me back and forth to work everyday without fail.WARNING :The above post may contain sex, violence, drugs, sexual violence, violent sex, sexual drugs, violent drugs and violently sexual drugsComment

Good for you, Sarah! My first car was my mom's 1989 Tercel. It never broke down and it carried all my friends, so I was happier than happy, but it wasn't exactly sporty or fashionable.

Fun car
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

My first car was a 94 Ford Escort 2-door hatchback with a spoiler. A gift from my parents that I was grateful for all throughout High School and part of college. I couldn't get that thing past 97 MPH even when I was driving downhill with the wind behind me. But it was still a great first car.Randy Weber

There wasn't a "bigger one", the small ones were just built like freaking tanks. I dated a guy who had one (we called it the Shitvette) and that thing was crazy. I swear we went 4 wheeling on his parent's property in it w/o it missing a step. I learned how to drive stick shift on that thing
My first car was a 79 Celica that I got new when I was 16. Which is a look into how ancient I am..
My aunt bought it for me and offered me a new car of my choice or her 2 year old Mercedes. I thought the Mercedes was an old person's car and got the Celica. I never said I had good taste.

Nice cars the prelude. I almost bought one my self. Took it for a test drive and loved it, but the misses did not like the bucket seats and said it was to low plus the space in the back is very limited for hauling my two teenagers about. Iv always like the look of them too Infact I have picy somewhere of the one I almost bought I will dig it out and post itLast edited by halfpint; 02-26-2008, 04:54 PM.Comment

1982 Honda Civic hatchback. Pristine condition with 103K miles on it.
2 weeks after i bought it I got hit from behind. Got a "settlement" for $2300 (which is what i paid for the car) the guy's insurance wrote it off as "totaled" ... and i got another $3500 after paying my doctor and lawyer for my medical bills.
I didn't fix it but proceeded to drive it for the next 5 years with a loose hatchback wired down with (literally) a wire hanger AND a huge bondo filled dent on the back!
LOL
I have a pic somewhere that i should scan!
Ah, the lean years
