I would only shoot at F16 if:

(a) The client told me to shoot at F16
(b) My lens was stuck on F16
(c) I was shooting amateur favor content in a small set with a short lens

Sure, there are members who want everything in focus but there are also members who appreciate the look of a long(er) lens with some limited depth-of-field. The key is to shoot for the market that you're trying to sell to. If your market is an amateur market..... a short lens at F16 is great. If you're selling to a more sophisticated audience that appreciates the look of a longer lens, shoot that way.

My advice is always to follow your heart and use the F-stop that is pleasing to your eye, sets the mood for the shot and pleases your client. You can't please all the members so just concentrate on pleasing the client
