    Say goodbye to your browser

Adobe will be announcing tomorrow a new app that creates a widget for a webpage that is constantly updated and no browser needed.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/25/te...partner=EXCITE

this could kill the internet as we know it.

I'm not your bro and maybe you should read the article. The widget is constantly updated and you can use it when you are not connected to the internets.

i dont see how this will "blur the lines" so much.

but what i do see is that now, applications i use are gonna spam me like my web browsers do

Great. Another browser that we'll have to fight with to get our CSS layouts to look right.

Did I hit a nerve? You must be a web developer.

It's just another pie-in-the-sky application that will be thrown to the wayside because it has high hopes and very little actual use.

Nope no nerve hit here, and not a developer. It just cracks me up when people like you can't see the future. You remind me of a teacher I had in college that when asked if this MTV thing would fly told me "no fucking way."

Dates me a bit, but same sort of thing here. I bet you didn't think embedded flash movies would never catch on, but look now. It's got Adobe behind it, so I think maybe they are onto something. They don't make too many mistakes except maybe golive

Actually, I said "Something will supercede java; it's too resource intensive, and despite being mostly system-independent, it lacks the primitives required for media without building your own."

It's from Macromedia, actually, and I know the guy who built the predecessor to "Air." which was going to be a WebEx replacement. It worked very well as designed, but what they're trying to tout this as is not what it will ever be capable of doing. But, hey, enjoy your "The Network Is The Computer" concept; something I lived through once, already.

So this program would download the entire internet then I could browse through it? Unlikely bro!!!

                                                It's Hype.

Useful for Mobile computing perhaps but still not much of a big event really.
Seemingly just another browser. I did not find anyhting related to everyday practicality that translates properly as being different than what is already happenin on Portable devices.
There is no demand for this or a void filler. I mean like its not an essential piece to make working easier.

Either that or I am missing something about this "New Invention".

Seemingly just another browser. I did not find anyhting related to everyday practicality that translates properly as being different than what is already happenin on Portable devices.
There is no demand for this or a void filler. I mean like its not an essential piece to make working easier.

Either that or I am missing something about this "New Invention".
Thats what I'm saying man it just seems like instead of one browser we'll just have to launch a different program for each website we wanna go to.

Man looking at this now and seeing some of the applications it really is kind of weird, I just don't understand why someone would use eBay in an application lets say rather than online, what would the difference be? You don't have to refresh? There must be something major I'm missing cuz when I look at this again it kinda seems workable.
