The real problem? Guns or prescription drugs?

    http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/02/20/shooter.girlfriend/

I know there's been a lot of heated debate over guns, but this article kind of (inadvertently) points out the bigger problem...everyone wants a magic pill to make them feel better. Everyone wants an instant cure.

The issues being raised by this case should be more about the person rather than his weapon of choice. Here's a guy that was being treated and given 3 different prescriptions...and one of them was to basically fix the side effects of one of the others....

Nope, it's still the guns fault that all these shootings happen. Just like I blame my pen for misspelled words.

so, for all those in Europe, etc. is your dependency on prescription medications on the level they are in this country?

I think both , the guns and prescription are causing problems

Is it me or do the medication commercials convince you that you're ill so you can buy their product? "Are you feeling sad, sometimes? Do you have a headache once in a while? Are you tired of feeling tired? Then buy this (don't forget to ask your doctor so he can earn commission off of prescribing the bs to you) - side effects include death." Sorry if it's a bit off topic, but medications were mentioned and this sprung to mind.

we need to start mandatory xanax rations for every man, woman, and child.

everyone would be far to relaxed to kill anyone. ;)

                  Not off topic at all.

I agree, these commercials always take the most basic of problems and make you assume it will all go away with their little miracle pill. Then of course, you have to take even more meds to counter the side effects of those pills and so on and so on...

I think Ambien is one of the most awful evil medications ever invented.

Well, as I hear horror stories several times a week, I have to give the nod to prescription drugs.

Amen. My daughter works for the Dept of Children's Services and the stuff she tells me makes me wonder why people don't have to pass a test to get a license to conceive.

well, most idiots have children because they failed the birth control test, two tests might be too much to ask.
