i have a Breitling Jupiter Pilot that i got as bonus for selling dentist equipment. if i ever buy another watch it would be probably another Breitling - i simply like them.
but there are also great german watches - like "Sinn" or "A. Lange & Söhne"

Modest, not extremely priced, and sturdy ones are nice.. and I'd pick a Tag-Heur or Breitling if I felt like having one - selling them on the other hand.. that spikes my interest

My eyes have gotten so bad I can't even read the name on my watch. It's something French. I bought it 10 or so years ago at watches.com. You could do a search by how much watches were discounted. I went to the 75% section (the highest discount at the time) and bought a watch I liked. It was around $200 so I guess normally it was $800. I paid $5 to get some links taken out of it at the mall, I've put in approximately 3 new batteries (also about $5 each) and it's takin' a lickin' and keeps on tickin'
I had a Cartier in HS and it broke. Got a Piaget when I was married and it broke. My Dad bought me a Rolex in Hong Kong 20+ years ago and it broke. This little $200 thing is great!
(now that I've said this, it will break or I'll lose it tomorrow........)Comment

You guys with the diamonds that aren't under the glass - do you have issues with them falling out? I have a ring I've had since HS and I've had to replace 3 diamonds so I don't even wear it anymore (14K white gold - looking for a designer to make the same one in platinum) and I had 2 diamonds recently fall out of a necklace. Don't you find yourself hitting things like tables and such that are hard or are you more kind to your jewelry than me?

I'd say no, nothing fancy. I have a lot of Disney collectors' watches, mostly signature models from favorite animators (Ward Kimball, Mark Davis) and Disneyland commemoratives.
My workaday watches are a Mickey Mouse chronograph and a Mondaine Swiss railways watch. Black Skagens for special occasions, one has a Mickey Mouse silhouette in silver.
I tried on the Tag-Heuer Steve McQueen blue Monaco at Rocks at the Hard Rock during last year's XBIZ Hollywood Conference, but it was too big for my wrist. Found a square blue Swatch chronograph that looked pretty good for $50, but I already have a chronograph...
I once zotzed my prudish sister by pointing out that the Movado Museum watch is the unofficial porn watch. She had been SO proud of it before then...
