Almost forgot I am not pro gun really, I do not belong to the NRA, and I vote as an independant. I just hate false info. For the record I do have a couple of guns though. 2 shotguns, 2 hand guns, 1 .22 riffle. Of which 1 of the shotguns and the .22 were gifts and passed down from relatives.

I only criminals had guns 90% of these fucked up people who went around doing school shootings would never have happened. Think about how many people have been killed in the last year alone due to school shootings!
America really is messed up in that sense, and all you guys who think having a gun will stop someone breaking into your house at night when you are asleep and robbing you or worse killing you, you are the ones who need serious help.
Your gun is useless to you if you are asleep and the criminal is very quiet.Comment

In Iceland guns are perfectly legal, that is guns that are designed for hunting, guns that are designed only to kill people (hand guns, assault rifles etc) are illegal. Also you have to go through quite a rigourus test, both theory and practise to get a license. Also if you have more than 3 guns you have to buy a gun safe.
Perhaps America should do something similar, at least make people take a proper test. It shouldn't be easier to get a gun license than it is to get a drivers license if you ask me...Comment

All but one of my guns have trigger/chamber locks on them. One of the shotguns is used for home protection, I am dissabled afterall and have had the need to use it once already. The pistols are used at the range. All but one gun (shotgun) is also kept in a locked gun safe so dispite them having trigger & chamber locks they are also locked in a safe. I can safely say that no they are not waiting for a accident to happen.
Then in case you wish to question the one available shotgun. Yes it is as legally short as possible and has a pistol grip and an attached flashlight. Well it is loaded in a way that would also help prevent the vast majority of accidents and the like. First round is rock salt, second is bird shot, third is buck shot, then the rest are slugs.Comment

Aside from a few small loopholes that even I and many others would like to see closed (gun shows for example). It is very damn difficult to get most guns (some exceptions apply like shotguns). Where anyone who can pass a written multi choice test and then a super basic few minute driving test can get a license. Most gun owners need full background checks that delve into psychology, restraining orders, you name it. Where no drivers license test tries to see if your medically, physically, mentally fit, or that if your a chronic drug or alcohol user.Comment

heres a link(Dillon County) - Dillon County deputies say an argument between a brother and a sister over a bag of potato chips led to a shooting.
WBTW-TV reports that the incident happened Tuesday night. According to deputies, a 10-year-old boy shot his nine-year-old sister in the face with a shotgun.
Investigators say the two were arguing over the chips. Authorities say at some point, the boy left the room, got a shotgun out of his father's room, and shot the girl in the face.
The gunfire hit the girl on the right cheek.
The children reportedly ran to get help from their grandmother. The girl was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay; however, she will need plastic surgery.
Investigators are said to be considering charges in family court of assault and battery with intent to kill.

Anyway, full background checks is the least the state should do before giving someone a gun license. The test they make us take in Iceland the theory part of it takes like a week to learn and then you have to go twice to the range with an instructor that teaches people to propperly handle guns and shoot them. First day to learn and practise, next day for the testComment

Most often in a suprise discovery during a burglary. Though if you check crime stats in those same states I posted above you would see burglaries are way less common where it is often expected most people in a house have guns. If most of the population was allowed to have a gun thieves would be much less likely to just break in anywhere or even randomly assualt someone.
Also have noticed a lot more places with very strict gun laws or where they are illegal for the most part, assualts and the like have rised a great deal with knives and swords.
If we eventually get to the point of banning weapons eventually your going to be prevented from owning rocks small enough to be thrown.Comment
