An honest mistake, but surely you must realize that by linking to megarotic videos you're still using other peoples content without permission. Why not host the bonus feeds section yourself with short clips and upsell to the appropriate sponsors with it? That way everybody is happy and your legal stuff will be in order. It doesn't matter if you're hosting the material on your server or not, you display any content on your site without being able to prove the age and you're taking a risk that really isn't worth it.Comment

a lot of these "realgf" sites are popping up lately, main part of them with stolen content. I see these guys often on paid spots on big TGPs too (thehun, sleazy, etc.), so its not average Joe scammer, but someone who is doing this bussines few years at least. But its not big surprise, when you steal via tube sites, why not to implement stolen content into your paysite?

You don't need any megarotic feed to keep a paysite at good levels, not after taking the steps you said on spending a fortune on content. I think it was a bad move to be added first place and takes just few sec to remove it. There are feeds like itsyourporn.com that use fully licensed content, HDV, various formats etc etc and their survival at the end of the day depends on decisions like this one.Comment

It's becoming increasingly apparent that it was not the sparkiest idea.
Worse still, despite the fact that, yes, I have documentation, and model releases for all our content, drama seems to be drama. Seems I put too much effort into getting the site together than worrying about feeds, an uncomfortable oversight

Well, first of all I must say I didn't expect a that straightforward reply and I'm impressed by the honesty. There are others with similar sites who give a fuck and don't buy legal 2257 documented content.
While I have some sympathy for the approach to scrape youporn or megarotic for content without displaying their ads, but using their bandwidth, I don't think it's a good idea. Legal wise, the "I sell my content, the feed is a free bonus" may be fine, but the surfer won't make a distinction...as well as the webmasters finding their content in the feeds and getting the impression you are selling stolen content.
One bad apple ruins the whole bunch...It's a borderline thing, I wouldn't do this to a otherwise fully legit great looking site. I bet it has alot more potential without this crap, great move to fix it !Last edited by StarkReality; 02-16-2008, 06:05 PM.Comment
