i'll take 25M people who aren't criminals with guns over a few thousand criminals with guns.
Im sorry man but if you seriously say that 25m people with a gun is less dangerous to you than a few 1000 criminals then i cannot say anything else than that you are completely fucked in your head.
Just the numbers game alone, even if all of those 25m people would be responsible gun owners (which would never happen) you are already so much more likely to get into a gun fight. Now add to that tons of lunatics having a gun, tons of drunk people, people on the road, in the bar everywhere...
Man...that im even explaining this to you is already crazy. Cant you figure that our yourself?

you obviously are not a gun owner.
gun owners have their guns locked up / hidden away in the house. how would you get yourself into a tangle with a gun owner at home? you would have to be at their home first of all... and then you suggest some situation that things get out of hand and the gun goes to his gun hiding location, gets it out, and comes out and shoots someone?
the blood and mess alone is one reason not to do it, let alone going to jail.
2) its illegal to carry a gun into a bar. its illegal in most states to carry a concealed weapon, unless you have a concealed weapons permit.
your anarchy situation is such a far stretch. there are already millions of hand gun owners. so given the total anarchy you describe with 25M gun carriers, i would think we would have a little bit of armegeddon with atleast 5M gun owners in the U.S.
Gun haters will squawk and squawk and squawk ad nauseum, insulting gun owners (even responsible ones) calling them "weak" etc..... until... until that moment when they are tied up and are forced to watch some fucking asshole (or assholes as the case my be), who just broke into his home, watch him/them while he/they rapes his wife and daughter. At that moment, aside from crying about his family, the one thing burning in his mind is... God I wish I had a gun, I would have so shot these fuckers before they got to me and tied me up.
100% irrefutable fact.
I'm not anti gun, I am anti idiot. I believe people should have to have a number of courses under their belt before they can own one... gun safety, etc. I'm not crazy about people owning assault weapons. But a rifle to hunt or a handgun to defend one's home I have no problem with, as I have no problem with someone shooting a crook when he (or she) breaks into one's home. You give them a warning and they still choose to continue kicking that door in and come in that's it, all bets are off.
Should there ever be a time of national crisis where you are trust me, you WILL wish you owned a gun.
And finally, the best handgun is one that is never used and never needed.
(except for practice)
But when you do need it it's sure nice to have one.
Should there ever be a time of national crisis where you are trust me, you WILL wish you owned a gun.
I totally agree but still its a fact that youre more likely will have to need one if everyone and his brother has a gun instead of a few criminals who you will never run into in your life.

my neighbor's house was broken into, could have been me.. guess i almost ran into a criminal. if he did enter my house instead, i wouldn't have had a gun to defend myself. I bought a gun 2 days later after the police knocked on my door to see if I had heard anything from next door that got broken into.
friend of mine in the same city got robbed in broad daylight as the criminals kicked down her door while her and her young daughter were at home.
since you talk about statistics, have you looked at the US stats on crime? there's alot of people who run into the "few criminals" that have guns.
it doesn't matter if everyone and their brother has a gun, if someone is robbing your house, they won't be able to come in time.
you have to protect your own. we should always let the cops to their jobs to serve and protect, but in your own home, there are no cops.
people who don't have guns or are in countries that don't allow personal possession.. yes, their lives go on.. they get robbed, they become victims of firearm violence, etc.
but those of us in the U.S. have freedoms awarded to us, and if we choose to excercise those rights (like voting), that's an individual (personal) choice.
if one chooses to live in fear or in a state of helplessness, thats ones choice as well.
