I'm not American but I was raised in NY, lived there for 13 years, went to grade school, junior high and high school in Queens. I remember one time two kids got expelled because they brought hand guns inside the school. Back then random shootings were not common at all, but I imagine the fear of kids going to class nowadays and I'm sure it's not pretty.
