Every man for himself is the way its been and the way I see it ending one day. I can't talk Joe Blow x, y, and z how to run their business. If they want to take advantage of the massive branding power for sites with 100 or better Alexa rankings and shit on the rest of the industry, that is their perogitive.
All I can do is choose to not be one of those guys.

Agreed and this was my whole point on the zango and torrents issues and applies equally here.
After the kudos die down you will still be getting crap from all the "holier than thou's" (half of whom don't have traffic or would and do use any unethical traffic source in private) as well as those few individuals who still believe that we could all get together and stop this, for your one degree of separation from the "bad guys"
Look at all the crap Shap is getting for trying to monetize his own content. His ads only appear on his own video's pages not on other people's stolen content pages but he is being burned at the stake last time I looked in that thread.
So according to the mob, his one degree of separation is not ok but yours is?
You will be slammed either way whether you allow your content and ads on there to try to monetize it or you decide to "just say no" and prefer to send out C&D's all day while still supporting those sponsors who do advertise on there directly or indirectly.
Time will tell who's decision is the wiser one. From past experience, I think it's better to just not say anything and do what you feel is the best decision but props to both you and Shap for taking a position and being willing to defend it from any criticism, legitimate or otherwise.

If you absolutely want to, you can run a legal tube site where the conetent owners upload their content at their discression like I do with www.snizzshare.com - of course, I've had a lot more trouble generating traffic because there are barely any clips over 2 minutes on it, but the point is, you can still have a tube site and do it right!
A few points:
1. The DVD market is all but dead.
2. All of the porn that was once in members areas is out there for free.
3. It costs a decent amout of money to shoot porn (trust me, I know) and if the consumers mentality is that "all porn is free and only idiots pay" then all will be left is a bunch of big tube sites with huge bandwidth bills, no new content being produced because all of the content house have shut down, and a bunch of stupid muther fucking guys flapping their dicks to fake profiles on AFF.
