final format is mpeg2...
You can capture in AVI ( 20 gigs for 90 minutes approx ), then render that in mpeg2 to be able to author as a DVD ( VOB files ). WMV files can also be used, but the quality will be less.
I like a lot TMPGEnc DVD author 3 ( http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/index.html ) where you can use the avi, cut-edit, do menus etc ...
It will accept other formats as output and is very diversiffied as output options.
