25% is more than 15%, absolutely. But that is very rarely the argument used. The argument is "the rich pay less in taxes than the poor." If you want to say "the rich pay a lower percentage than the poor", that may or may not be true, depending on the scenario, but that is very rarely what is trumpeted as it does not sound sexy at all.

Please do. I don't have cable television though, so I couldn't quote them unless it's in an AP or Reuters report.. or some opinion piece I guess.

In the past Alaska was at the top getting over $2 per dollar paid.

Nothing on the Mother Jones site said they revived the most overall, but that they received the most vs what they paid in.

You are really trying hard to distract from the facts. I guess it's because you don't like what the facts say about whom the "REAL" freeloaders are in this country.

But it's not. The argument used is ALWAYS the rich paying less (of a rate) than poor (in terms of tax rate). It should not need to be pointed out because it's just that obvious.
Perhaps this is a fundamental problem, but I'm not worried. I'm certain that the richer people will always pay a lower effective rate than the poorer people because they have the means to. This is not a slam (pointing out the obvious), it's just the way it is.

Poor and rich alike can simply choose the third rail and not pay anything and risk jail. Crime.. the great equalizer.

Percentages and dollars don't count at this time.

No body has broken down WHAT taxes are being divided by population to arrive at the revenue per capita dollar number.

When you look at the total federal tax revenue by state, collected by the IRS you are including individual AND corporate dollars. They are mixed. So …………

Why does California get credit for Toyota USA paying the Feds from their corporate headquarters in California. Why does each resident of California get their per capita revenue figure bolstered by the tax on profit from every Toyota vehicle sold in the rest of the country?

Why do New York residents get to divide per capita tax collected on every penny declared as profit from investment bank/stock brokerages on transaction across the country just because their corp headquarters pay from Wall St?

Why does Procter and Gamble out of Ohio up the percentage of their residents from tax collected on consumer products sold in other states? Proctor and Gamble probably has a half dozen products in every house in every state but pay from corporate offices in Cincinnati Ohio.

Think where most big tax paying corporations are located ….. Look at those states on the list now and you'll see why the numbers are incorrect. Poor guy in New Mexico driving a Toyota has just increased the per capita numbers for some guy in California.

Stupid debate over statistics but the point made by the OP is valid - millions of anti big government voters are first in line when it comes to government handouts. i'd like to see these red white and blue true Muricans if their wish came true and the spending and handouts came to a screeching halt.

It's welfare Robbie.. exactly what the right claims to be against. If you don't earn it you shouldn't get it.. isn't that the motto of the GOP? Why is it only good, for certain situations but not others?

What welfare? How many times do you have to be told: The PEOPLE aren't seeing a thin dime of any money.
It goes to defense contractors and other cronies. Ever hear of Roswell Air Force Base? Betcha the lions share of that 5.6 million dollars goes straight to that.
