Are you talking about HEMIs? They're technically not new, seeing as how they were around in the muscle car era.
Rumor has it that the government told them that they had to pull them because the cars were too fast w/ them in, not surprising seeing that the hemispherical combustion chamber made them the first engine to put out 1 HP per CID but they probably just went away due to the increase of gas price and subsequent decline in muscle car popularity.
Or are you talking about their diesel engines? Cause their Banks turbos haven't really changed in the last 10 years and in that case yes, Ford/International/Cat's Power Stroke diesel's blow them away, especcially the newest ones without a camshaft and hydraulic injectors that open the valves instead of a camshaft each individually controlled and timed by the computer...
