Self-photographer what would I need

Any idea of what camera, and other equipment I would need to get set up similar to this video clip here. Since I have no furniture in my living room, and probably won't for a while I am thinking of putting together a budget so I can set my own home photo studio. I am not interested in hiring a photographer so there is no point in suggesting that

I just know she has a cannon, and it seem to be a on timer every 10 seconds take pictures continously

I was looking at the Olympus Sp-510 henrys had it for $280 which sucks since that is about $40 more of what I got my Nikon for that is horrible for taking pics. I think its 6400 or something I don't remember.

Anyway watch the clip and what would I need to do that.

no timer, get a good quality Camera, and a long cable release, then snap away

No it does not the timer does not work, and the preview is very very dark. and even if i put it on the tripod it always cuts off my head in the picture, and it's a bitch to push the shooter button to take a picture and there is no flash settings on it.

so I am just going to send it off to family in jamaica.

Wow... I shoot with a NikonD80 and it'd be PERFECT for those types of do-it-yourself shoots.

Looks like all you'd need is a decent Nikon.. or any SDLR should work. It looks like she just has one strobe. I'd say get 2 or 3 at the least. One main light, and one fill light and a 3rd for your BG or for highlights.

I am look at a budget of like 1,000 to maybe 1,500 for the whole set up.

Still not sure what camera to get , I don't want anything heavy.

I think it would be really hard to duplicate what she has done for under $1,500
starting from scratch.

You will need a decent camera that can take multiple shots with some sort of interval
timer. Figure about $1.400 plus

Add a tripod and at least 2 lights with stands and something to hang backgrounds on and you're
looking at close to $500

Not sure why you are concerned about camera weight as it would be resting on the tripod.

To get started you could use the self timer on your camera, for each shot press the shutter then dash back to your pose. It won't be easy but at least it won't cost much.

Looks like she has a rebel with an 18-55 lens.

One strobe and a backdrop stand.

Photo manipulation software will obviously be required too.

Check out ebay (apart from the software, you can buy that locally at any PC store or the like) , no reason you can't mimic this set for your budget.

becasue with a timer you have to keep getting up to the camera ressetting the camera and running back to position, it will take you all day for one set..
if you have a long cable release you can shoot as much as you want, Pose with out getting up, and just hide the small cable somewhere within the set.. your life will be much much easier

That's a great camera for the price but as you pointed out it would need the ability to take multiple
shots with a timer or be able to hook up to some sort of interval timer.

My Canon 20D will only take 1 timed shot before having to be reset. It did come
with some software I think that will allow it to be connected to a PC and with the software you can set
an interval timer with any duration between shots allowing for complete hands off operation of the camera
which is what the girl was doing.

Canon has an inexpensive wireless remote available that will work with the lower end DSLR models. Mine cost about $USD25.

1. Set the camera timer to 2 seconds
2. Get into position
3. Press remote button and drop it (or put your hand behind your back)
4. Camera snaps
5. Repeat

You could do the same with a wired remote but I think that costs more, and you have a trailing wire.
