Its a Spanish word, so both those are wrong.. the end o is short, about 1/2 the length of a standard english o, but you are correct with the a vs the ah

Having family in Salina, I've always pronounced it with a long A. Interestingly, there is a part of my current hometown of Syracuse, NY called Salina, also pronounced with a long A.

Maybe California is just whacked on that one.

Locals get to name and pronounce their localities however the fuck they want and they are not wrong.

Here's one for you, is Missouri pronounced Missouree or is it pronounced Missourah ? Which one is right depends on if you live in urban Missouri (St. Louis, Kansas City) or rural Missouri. Urban pronunciation tends to be Missouree. Rural tends to be Missourah. Both are right, although the issue is debated in almost every statewide election.

They ARE wrong if they disagree with the way a Cadillac is pronounced or the way John Baldry says things. Period. If you use a name, pronounce it correctly, no matter where you are.
