Funny thing is, the last designer I hired I post the work here and got the same response.......So I guess the big question is.....How in the heck do I get the perfect design?
Just try out and see how it converts though. I've seen some of the crappiest looking designs convert very well while other great looking designs don't sell at all.
Your photo cutouts are done with a blurry Eraser this is not nice looking.. Most tour pages got razor sharp photo cutouts.. If you want to use blurry cutouts then do those in the background and make some sharp cutouts jump out.. This way the blurry cutouts don't become so apparant.. And are more of a background then the main subject.
(cutouts are almost half the work of a good tour page keep that in mind )
Try to use 2 or 3 colors and use only these colors in different shades..
In general its even better to use only web 2.0 colors.. (Google for them:P)
Choose a font type and stick with its size.. Dont stretch every text in a different way.. If you need it smaller or bigger use a bigger or smaller font size, but don't start scaling the text it makes it look very ugly and amateur...
Dont use glows in different color over texts.. It makes the texts look blurry and unreadable.. Anyway in general its not good to use glows. Try to keep your text sharp like a razor Only use glow in text on for example on a logo and just to accent a small part a little.. Dont overdo glow never.. and if you have to use it try to use it in the same color as the object its glowing around.. If you use a glow different color then the object it will make it look very unnatural. But anyway for a beginner designer a good advice is to not use them at all as glow effects take a very fine eye to see where they fit and not fit...
Get rid of that standard lens flare effect it really shows you did not put any effort in this design..
Same goes for those ugly paintbrushed pixelated borders around your pictures they totally conflict with the rest of the design and really look like they have just been stick on there instead of their part of the design..
I hope these tips help you
And anyway like some said before ugly design doesn't nesceraly mean it wont sell.. Some sites work better because of their amateur look

Looks a bit better than the last one, but still looks like it belongs in the early 90's.

I'd change the photo on the warning page as she looks like a tranny there.
The design is ok, nothing special, doesn't jump out at you. You need much bigger pictures of her showing off that talent.
