Maybe it's just me, but the spam I still occasionally receive seems so pathetic. As I'm surfing the internet, I get embedded ads on the webpages I'm on that correspond to Google/Yahoo searches that I've recently done. And though not always interesting to me, they're at least somewhat relevant, and they seem to know where I live, my sex, and other demographic details.
The spam I get though is just laughable--buy recommendations for penny stocks touting how they'll be worth $26 a share in a few weeks, inquiries from Eastern European women who want to marry me and saying they're replying to ads that I never posted on dating sites I never joined. Penis enlargement pills. They're beyond lame.
Maybe spammers are still making money--I can't believe it's a growth industry though... kinda like buggy whips in the early 20th century.
