Didn't see Reacher, but saw Oblivion last weekend. It was OK - kinda predictable, but overall entertaining.
I think what you call boring was the intentional pace set at the beginning by the director to convey the day to day drudgery and relative isolation of his life.

It's funny how we blame bad movies on the actors or actresses. A movie is so much more than just the main character - everything from the plot to the director to the editing.

who gives a fuck how tall he is.. you think the rock would do a better job because he fits the description? They tried to do that with conan the barbarian and that is an awesome story that was ruined because they put in a 'tall' meat head who couldn't pull it off...
movie was ok.. was better in the first 3 quarters, the action stuff at the end and the ending lost its appeal to me a bit. There is far worse shit than this out there though.

I have added that I'd blame the scenario... and the director too. But generally speaking Cruise has been doing a lot of great flicks before these too, so who's fault is that?

When it's Tom's production company producing a movie he's acting in, he is definitely responsible for a big portion of the blame if a movie bombs.
I used to watch most movies that came out. IN the last couple years, i almost stopped watching movies all together because they seem to get worse and worse. I had a few hours to kill and watched Oblivion which was the second movie i'd seen in a theater this year. I thought it was ok. I had no idea of the series/books. The story was interesting and had a few interesting twists. Overall, I would say it was worth watching and thought it was a fairly decent film.
BTW... if you've read the books. What did they do with those people who's service was completed - how they kept saying they were out of there in 2 weeks? Wipe their memories and send them back?
