I really think the Republicans need Hillary to win in order to stand a chance at getting the presidency. I really do not think they can beat Obama and only Hillary has that power to do so. If it ends up as Mccain Vs Obama, Obama would win.Comment

They all stand a chance. This election will be decided by events that haven't even happened yet. How will the weakening economy or other global/political events alter the election? Who will win the debates? Who will the VP candidates be? Who will make brilliant strategic moves in their campaign ("It's the economy stupid") or key errors?
What will be the key battleground states and who will campaign better there? What will voter turnout be? Hell, the election could be decided by bad weather on November 4th in a battleground state.

McCain is the governments choice...the other options are not in the govs best interest.
Anyone who believes there exists two parties with separate interests is either delusional or just digested what's fed from media and other influences, which is the norm and majority.
There is one statement about the state of affairs now...

McCain barely has half the delegates needed to win the GOP nomination. This thing is far from over. 2 more races Saturady. One is a caucus which McCain has failed to win even ONE so far. I treally coes down to Texas on March 4th. If mCCainc an win that( winner takes all 140 delegates ) then sure he's got the nomination. If not then he's most likely not going to get the 1191 needed to clinch the nomination. If Romney and Huckabee form an aliance( not likely ) they can beat mCCain.Comment

Ya and you wait and see how many come out if either Hillary or Obama are on the ticket. Every fuckin redneck in the country will be out voting. It will be the biggest repub turnout in history.

Just the opposite.
Hillary has the political machine that could possibly beat McCain. Quite frankly, I do not think many socially conservative voters (of both parties) will vote for a black man; that is not to say I agree with such a racial decision, but I believe it is a political reality to be recognized.
Let's pray that Obama knocks out Hillary now.
Then, McCain should be able to beat Obama.
If either Hillary or Obama do get elected, I fear our country will continue its slide to socialism, and we will become just another country, instead of remaining the leader of the free world.Comment

The Republicans have no need to turn out in record numbers, they have spoken, and McCain will (in all likelihood) get the nod for them.
The Democrats on the other hand have to turn out in record numbers because all the Obama supporters want to keep Hillary out, and the Hillary supporters want to insure she gets the nod.
Once the black guy or the chick gets nominated, then you can be sure that every Republican will vote to keep either of them out, and Democrats will start crossing party lines because the one they wanted did not win.
You seem to forget about the Electoral College.Comment

You're voting for Edwards anyways no?

Precisely. This is the exact same reason that I will take a conservative Supreme Court appointment over some liberal that says screw the Constitution, I want to initiate change.Comment

Totally opposite really, said it many times.
I never vote with a party or for a party because it's a party I like. I dont like either party. I watch political coverage almost 24/7 right now so I can form an independant opinion. In 2000 I was all about McCain until the Rove machine took him apart like a toaster.
My post wasn't even an opinion. The data is just there and I thought it was provocative. I think you could be right about the reasons why democratic turnout was so much higher, because the supporters REALLY want one or the other very strongly. Whereas the republicans felt they didnt HAVE TO go out and pick McCain because so many millions already did. That also is telling on the rep. side because if they'd had some people they were super passionate about, they'd have turned out like crazy too.
My only prediction is that whoever the dems. nominate will win. AND in a couple of years the republicans WILL get majority back in the house. I'm calling that right now because it's how we vote. Too much power for 1 party is never good.43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.

Sometimes that is the only choice . . . even though I have to question the vote for Kerry. Sounds like an "anyone but . . . " vote to me.Comment

Yup and there the battle will be fought. Assume McCain grabs Huckabee to fight hard in the South and grab evangelical vote motivating conservative Republicans to go to the polls.
Arkansas will be contested if Clinton wins. Back to the big battleground states again. Florida, Ohio. Winner there?

If I were president, every bike would have a banana seat, a sissy bar and a big orange flag on a flexible pole on the back. WITH clickety clackers in the spokes to give it speed.
But seriously, the reason I predict a dem win is only because how america votes like a student driver drives.43-922-863 Shut up and play your guitar.

Obama and Clinton keep trumpeting policies that will effect the wealthy negatively, so if it's between McCain versus Obama or Clinton, I'm thinking McCain will get the Presidency. Big business, wealthy individuals, and lobbyists will do what it takes to keep the "socialists" out of office (not to mention the racial and gender factor). I'm very surprised McCain even has a following, and if he is President then we deserve whatever disasters for the country that he is sure to reign in. Romney is superior to McCain IMO.
Maybe I'm wrong. We just have to let the cards fall where they may.Last edited by Drake; 02-06-2008, 09:44 AM.Comment

Socialist movement to fufill.
You guys have been drinking the Karl Rove Koolaid.
Universal Healthcare?
Raise taxes on the wealthy?
Decrease the rising disparity in weath from the haves and the have nots?
Decrease miltary spending?
Increase education spending?
Get out of a war that we have no shot at winning and shouldnt be there in the first place?
What a bunch of commie pinko's right?
And liberals want to change the constitution?
Actually it's the opposite. The Republican conservatives in this country today (when they're not busy sucking on Reagan's teet) are the ones that want to modify the constitution. Gay marriage bans, immigration control etc.
And I have yet to find someone who actually has an educated opinon and thoughts as to why Hillary Clinton would be a bad president. All they can throw out is Liberal and Socialist (gasp!!!) taglines.
And for anyone who makes their money in this industry and votes for a Republican is absolutely nuts. Why people dont vote for THEIR interests is beyond me. It's like the guy driving a beatup 1996 Ford Escort with a bumper sticker for GW in 04. Wake the fuck up you idiot!Comment
