They are cool dogs but they are very slobbery and smelly. I get skeeved on slimy slobber so they are not the dog for me. I do think they are adorable though on Dog Whisperer they showed quite a few who were OBSESSED with skateboards lol.
I have an English and a French bulldog. I could do w/o the French, but the English is so awesome. They are very smart and friendly dogs, he has such a great personality that you look past the slobber and farts. They do sleep a ton and that is perfect for my day as I'm working for most of it =)
Mine has about 5% boxer in him though and because of this does not have many of the health problems associated with the breed, he's only had to go to the vet once for a non-checkup visit and it wasn't anything serious.
We're on a waiting list for one at the moment. Hopefully this year, or early next year. That'll give me time to find a farm.
My girlfriend wants one to show. She managed to make contact with a breeder who's dog has one best in breed at Westminster the past two years. We're on the list for one of his pups. They have one available now, but we still have a few pug puppies hanging around here and I can't keep up with them as it is.
One of my best friends has always owned English bulldogs. When we were in HS her mother had a white Porsche 911 and the dog always sat in the passenger seat with drool coming down the inside and outside of the car
They do have the same medical problems all brachycephalic (pugs, bull dogs, Bostons, etc) have. She lost her last one after surgery to work on his palate so he could breath better
omg...i want one! i've thought about getting one in the near future or getting a french bulldog. i have a 170 lb mastiff that's my baby and as much as i would love another mastiff, i just couldn't handle two of them. that's why i'm thinking an english or french bulldog would be great. i have a soft spot for burly and buff dogs...

They are even more expensive than pugs in the UK (and pugs cost about $2000).
A good (read: good breeder, not a puppy mill or backyard breeder) pug is $2K-3K here in the states. People think they're getting such a great discount when they see one for $900 at the pet store or $200 from a backyard breeder.

The 'average' well bred dog that comes from a fairly common breed is about £500 here..which is about $1000. Pugs are still pretty rare. So, they are £1000 ..which in comparison is a big jump. Parker's breeder was excellent and she was worth every cent (pence) of that. Maggie was £500 and her breeder was rubbish (though she is great). When I was looking for dogs I would see British bulldogs for about £2k ($4k). I think that is mostly because of them being the national dog.

We kept one for ourselves and gave the rest to friends and family. We didn't have enough to go around. I don't think I could have sold them though, I got too attached. I had to know who they were going to and know I could see them every so often.
Show quality English Bulldogs are going for anywhere from $3500 - 5000, from what I have been shown. I'm along for the ride on this one.
OH the farts!!!! Lord they kill it! But wow they are nice dogs. Droolers with big button mashing feet to be sure, but still sweet and fantastic. They are great for owners who want a dog that's more sloth-like. heehee.
Here, pugs go for $1200 usually. I think pugs are my favorite, but that's because I have one.

Cute, I guess.
Although I truly appreciate canines, that is not one of my favourite breeds, nor the type I'd go for. I an more partial to furry four-legged friends whom enjoy playing in cold temps, and can follow me around the snow covered mountains. Malamute, Husky etc
You would be surprised - There is a lot of muscle in that saggy jaw.
and they go str8 for the throat.....
Thats what they where bred for in the first place. The 'mean' streak has been bred out of them, but like most dogs they had a function in the begining.
I have one.....he's the best damn little fucker ever!
That is a bad ass doggy

We bought an Olde English Bulldog for my youngest son's best friend about a year ago. She's a great dog. Fits with the guy perfectly. He's about 6'7" and 340lbs. The girls drive him crazy about that dog. Chick magnet.
