Really makes you wonder... The jets they sent to intercept the planes weren't even armed because all that shit was put away and no time to arm them... So they were going to ram the plane and eject...

How do you think Ronald Reagan ended the cold war? He spent the Soviets into the ground.
Today, terrorism is equally dangerous, for different reasons.
Like the Nazis, the Soviets were armed to the max, but they had a fragile ideology and economy. And, during the cold war, WMD were not easily obtained by individuals.
Today, Islamofascism is a worldwide movement, well funded by oil and drug profits, and WMD are easily obtained.
It is very sad that some folks will only be convinced after another 9/11 catastrophe. Bin Laden has promised a bigger bang in the future.

Big problems with this idea.
1. You don't make cars so the Japs, Koreans, Mexicans and everyone who does make cars would welcome the idea. You do make guns, tanks and planes. So lots of profit to be had by the guys paying for the election show you're currently running. And if you think the money spent to get elected, is to help you you're not thinking a lot.
Lot's of profit, control and hype in fear. America needs an enemy.
As for theking thinking spending more is the answer, show the level of brains of your average US ex soldier. Or is he just stupid?Comment

heh whats the big deal, war has always been on top of everyones minds ever since the age of time. there will never be world peace, infact i think the most peaceful times of our lifetimes was the 90's when usa ruled the world dominantly.
Its strange how we are now facing times and strategic geopolitical positions similar to that of pre 1914.

Damn...I am just shocked to learn that civilians in a combat zone are killed. I have never heard of this happening before the conflict in Iraq. The men who run the U.S. Defense Department, said Deputy Defense Secretary Roswell L. Gilpatric in a recent speech, "sometimes feel like a Gulliver among the Lilliputians." Spending upward of $50 billion a year, nearly 10% of the entire gross national product, the Defense Department is an economic giant that dwarfs the biggest of corporations. Its decisions on where and how to spend its money can mean prosperity or pinch for business firms, cities and entire regions.
The Piano Impact. The explosive postwar prosperity of California has largely resulted from a widening share of the Pentagon's contract awards. California currently accounts for 24% of the dollar value of all prime defense contracts, as against 14% a decade ago and less than 10% during World War II. The defense business concentrated along Route 128 in the Boston area has enabled Massachusetts to recover from the textile industry's migration to the South. But Midwest defense business has dwindled drastically, leaving pockets of economic slack and high unemployment. Five Great Lakes states, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin, produced 32% of the nation's defense output during World War II; today the figure is a meager 12%.
