          for 500k you can go about 20 miles east of Dallas and get something in the 5k square foot range on an acre or more on a lake front

                  The best buys are just outside small/midsize towns. This house is 6600 sq ft high finish on two acres in horse country close to Lexington, Ky. If you work from home this is a steal. $450,000.

                    Very beautiful, but high maintenance property, and in a rural area

                    The other one is in a wealthy suburb north of Dallas, it doesn't require a full-time gardener, it's convenient and you have access to Dallas area jobs and high tech infrastructure.

                      Good points, but if you work from home and want privacy, I am not a neighbor kind of guy, the country is the way to go.

                      As far as maintence, I have a mower like the one pictured, it does 5 acres an hour with a great finish.
