Voting rules and regs are fucked up

I just learned today that in California...come super Tuesday...only registered Republicans can vote for a Republican. Registered Dems and Independents cannot vote for a Republican. Different states have rules that are different from one another and several have rules that you can only vote the party that you are registered as. When one is required to vote party instead of for the person they would like to see win...I think it is a shameful thing.
When you're running down my country hoss...you're walking on the fighting side of me!

You don't know shit about primaries then. Why should Democrats be able to influence a Republican party decision? Or visa versa?

They can register as a Republican if they want to vote in their primary.

I thought that I had explained why...it prevents being allowed to vote for your person of choice and prevents independents in particular voting as they choose to. One has to register far in advance of election day and many things could and often do happen to change a persons mind about a candidate and/or a party. Bottom line it places limitations upon an individuals choice.

When did you become aware of the new rule?

Pigshit. I lived in California and I know for a fact that it has not always been that way and in addition the rules were changed since the last primary as reported by the news (that is how I just learned about it) and I believe they said it was changed just two years ago. In addition some states have the rule and others do not. Check your facts before you speak.

and I have lived here since 1953 and been voting here since 72.

In the primaries we always get a ballot based on what our party is.

So be it...I am not going to take the time to reseach the old primary rules of California and the changes made over the years...maybe someone else will.

Don't feel bad King, I'm in Texas and there is no "Super Tuesday" here. Republican primary is not till March 4. Could well be over depending on delegate counts by then.

Actually I don't believe that dems and independents should be allowed vote in the Republican primary unless they clearly delcare their party affiliation as Republican ahead of time. But the rules vary radically from state to state.
