I am pretty sure that even during a war, you cannot round up the wives of the soldiers as criminals. They are being extreme to get facetime. Here in the US, people do it all the time, and we think nothing of it.
They feel that as a group they are being treated differently. Did the UK arrest the wives of known IRA terrorists? Wives f known Nazis in 1945? I do not know the history but this does seem to be beyond the pale for the UK.
