don't you guys use the metric system in England? the reason I ask is I'm watching Trial & Retribution and the cops are measuring something with a tape measure in inches??? I thought that was a bit weird???
question for the English:

Its a confusing mess here - We went metric late so a lot of people still use imperial - I am 42 and was taught both at school - Most people younger than me where taught metric only - So anyone older than me is imperial and younger than me is metric.
Also we have road signs in MPH and we normally use miles - All produce now has to be marked in metric but most is marked in imperial as well.
Its caused all sorts of issues and even deaths are common - Imagine building a skyscraper when half use imperial and half use metric.Comment

hahaha, spot on
41 here and same as Eddy with the using both metric & imperial. Doesn't everybody use a mixture though? When I was in the building game we'd cut things at say 1200mm but eg ask the labourer for 2 inch nails. Height in the rest of Europe seems to be done in cm, but you never hear of a bloke boasting he has a 270mm cock...
otto, I'm impressed you know your weight in kilos, all I know is stones and pounds - though I never use total pounds, and have to sit and work that out.Comment

BUt yep, in the UK we use a mixture.... no, I say that, but my kids keep surprising me with metric stuff that I need to spend a minute working out.
Okay, changed my mind. Anyone of 'our' age uses a mixture. The kids are blasphemous metricheadsRob | Britsexcash.com | @splatbukkake | Skype: BritSexCashComment

38, never really done stones and pounds. School was metric weights but imperial height
Although I did technical drawing at school and college so most measurements I think of in mm.
I haven't got a clue what the temperature is if someone does it in Fahrenheit and Americans saying their weight in pounds I have to convert to kilos in my head.
Petrol is probably the most fucked up - buy it in litres but fuel consumption is always miles-per-gallon.↑ see post ↑

It also comes in handy when boasting about your 9 rock hard boner....
You say it fast and nobody notices you don't say 'inch'.
Nobody lied.Comment

Same here.
There is something about feet and inches when it comes to height. Hell most of the servos have feet and inches on the door when you leave still.
Also if someone says to me they are 196cm I think yeah ok but if they say they are 6 foot 5 i go holy shit you tall fuck!TripleXPrint on Megan Fox
