Best Scotch?! Any Scotch Drinkers?

That's funny, up here everyone seems to put it on some sort of pedestal. The only reason I have a hankering for it is because of the cool velvet bags they used to sell it in. I remember my parents drinking it when I was a kid and I always loved the purple velvet bags. Talk about tacky,

Plus I had a great uncle die a couple years ago that left me an unopened bottle from the 70's that I enjoyed partaking in. As far as I know, I don't think whiskey gets better with age, but this shit sure tasted sweet. It was from the early 70's just around the time I was born and I cracked the seal a couple years ago. I still have the bottle downstairs in my bar, I will have to snap a pic.

Maybe i'll give crown another try......It was many years ago when I tried it and my palate wasn't nearly as developed as it is now...Plus it was served to me on ice and I always drink my liquor straight and room temperature (except vodka)..But I NEVER drink liquor on ice...

Next trip to the liquor store and I'm going to buy some crown.

I like Vodka... And everyone who knows anything about Vodka more than the price and the hype knows that Belvedere and Chopin are PREMIERE brands because of taste alone. Can someone give me some examples of crap shit and good shit based on smell and flavor and not hype when it comes to scotch?

I myself am not much of a Chivas fan. I'm not sure why, but it gives me a burning sensation as it goes down. It's a bit harsh for my liking.

I just opened a bottle of The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 the other night... nice stuff for everyday drinking before dinner... not too peaty
