The rhetoric coming out of North Korea is worse than it has ever been since the cease fire was signed in 1953. The problem South Korea faces can be likened to a family dealing with a troublesome relative who comes as around from time to time, causing trouble, annoying the neighbors and getting drunk on the porch until you pay them to leave. Problem here is the troublesome relative has 10 kids that no one wants to be responsible for. It is a dilemma for sure.Comment

I think that this is more than just threats now tbh, if you listen to this guy talking and other news outlets they are saying that the orders are comming directly from the supreme leader which is not normally the case and they are also backing up their threats with actually doing things which they also dont normally do.

Great, now Everard speaks up AFTER I booked my holiday to Camp Pyongang.
With China mobilizing along the border, it could be they, South Korea and Japanese as well as the US have decided the gangrene needs to be cut out of the region. I hope they go Dutch on the bill cause whoever gets stuck with the check will be reeling for years. I just feel bad for all the civilians involved. There will likely be many.

They know that they're getting near to the top of the hit-list, at some point within 10 years they would have been attacked one way or the other, probably better to start the war when USA isn't ready for it. Maybe Syria/Iran will go on the back-burner for a while now.

And this is the problem - it's more of the same. It's been fifty years of this shit. It's costing us time, money, and manpower (we still have tens of thousands of US troops stationed in NK), and every time it flares up you know the White House spends yet more time on this.
What the US needs to do is bomb this missile site and then say "Well, with all of the threats your government has made in the past month we just assumed this was nuclear strike" and then "shame on you for not putting on your big boy pants and telling us it was only a test".
Then when NK has figured out we can hit them without them seeing it coming, perhaps they will change their tune. At the very least we need to establish early on that such threats with not be acceptable.
Sorry, I just laugh at North Korea. You compare what South Korea has to North Korea, and any claim they make is just fucking comical.Herschel Savage

The rhetoric alone is not what worries me, that is usually more for internal consumption to build nationalist support behind a regime losing control. What is troubling is the closing of the joint industrial zone, all the rhetoric in the world doesn't hurt them economically but when they start making moves that affect their extremely fragile economy then I start to get the sense they are going all in on whatever game they are playing.
A country with nothing to lose is as dangerous as they come.
Russia and China bare a huge amount of responsibility for allowing this regime stick around long enough to become a nuclear power. It is up to them to take whatever steps to resolve this disaster before it happens.
It was also quite foolish to bring the B-2s to South Korea and publicize it. Far better is to ignore NK and make them look stupid for escalating tensions all by themselves.Comment

They have intimated in several press releases they are willing to talk.

What I think most people don't realize is it wont be just the US, South Korea and perhaps Japan involved in this.
If NK attacks they are instantly at war with all 17 countries that signed the armistice agreement way back in I think it was 1953. It's a long list of countries and NK will be technically at war with them all.
Oddly enough the only country not on that list is South Korea because they never signed the agreement.In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.Comment
