Domain experts! Quick question on sell.

I just sold some domains and "unlocked" them at my registrar but the buyer still can't transfer them yet. It says they are still locked.

Is this because the DNS must update first?

    Thanks

      not likely.
No doubt one may quote history to support any cause, as the devil quotes scripture.

        Hey Sortie

It's got nothing to do with the DNS. Depending on the loosing registrar would depend on how long it takes to allow to transfer. For instance, Go Daddy requires you to wait 24 hours to transfer names to another registrar from the time they get unlocked.

ICANN mandates registrars lock down domains for 60 days from when they are registered and from when they are transferred in an inter-registrar transfer (from one registrar to another).

GoDaddy takes in upon themelves to lock down a domain for 60 days if you make any changes to it.

Just have them signup for an account where the domain is registered, then push it to their account. Fast, Free and painless.

I think she has nailed the answer. Very nice post. Are you domain expert? I was looking to Se Vende some domain names. Do you need any name we can make barter if need.
