Anyone ever do door-to-door or cold call sales?

I'm trying to find some good training guides or things to use for sales people. We do B2B marketing and use a CRM that is intended for email based services rather than something like SalesForce.

Concepts of sales are pretty easy, such as call or touch base, email, follow up to email, push for meeting, etc., but wondering if anyone has a SUGGESTION of a good book, ebook or system to check out?

I had to let someone go earlier this month because their follow up skills were horrible and all the leads they generated dried up quick, so in the process, I'd like to offer them something easy to grasp to ensure they are on the right path and not wasting my time.

I did it for Kirby Vacuum sales when I was in school in the late 90's. Sales is a peoples skill that takes time to learn. Either you can do it or you cant.

yep 2 years door to door sales.

you talk to that many people you tent to learn a lot of things on how people think and work.

Most people dont listen to what the customer has to say. If you do you can sell them

yeah if you want a good door to door sales video to watch...

Yep i did it many moons ago for double glazing

I am still in sales now but on the recruitment side

For any sales person you have to first sell yourself. If they dont like you, you wont sell them shit and like somebody else said, listening to what they are saying back is very vital. Find out what they are interested in and just agree with everything they say, Once they "trust" and like you, then you can start your sales pitch. If they start to make excuses then just walk away cause you are wasting your time and even if it results in a lead it most prob wont follow up with a sale. Trying a hard sale to generate a lead wont work 9/10 cause they just want you away from the door. Selling is a numbers game so you "get to know" your buyer as quick as pos make the lead or sale and then go to the next buyer.

I do very well in recruitment and sales although I do not do cold canvassing and havent done it in years, I still use similar tactics I used on the door.

I downloaded that and "The Ultimate Sales Machine" which is pretty good.

Our service is B2B, so it's a bit more difficult. Meaning, they are going to doctors offices, law firms, etc., and working it from there.

I did as well in high school. I did it for 1 summer, didn't hate it because it made me a lot of money back then.

                                  Their motto:
                                  1) Start with friends/relatives
                                  2) The whole sales pitch to sell the knives. Cutting a penny with scissors always got the moms excited ;)
                                  3) A good looking form for them to fill out at the end to put down 10 references.

I forget all the sales slogans they trained you to say, but they definitely worked.

A company that I worked with before used to send a lot of guys in there Southern region and midwest areas door to door to this day. I think it is crazy. In NYC you really arent aloud to door knock as most buildings you have to be let in and they will throw you out if someone complains. Cold calling is still a very useful tool for business to business. A lot of people dont like to do it, a lot of people are scared of it and a lot of people just plain old arent good at it. If you are good at it, you have a true advantage.

Most salesman talk too fucking much and dont ask enough questions. Ive done lots and lots of cold calling sales in my lifetime.

I worked for one of those shop at home companies for groceries but we were really in the freezer selling business. The first time I saw that movie it upset the shit out of me because that's how it was but worse. In a sales meeting there was this old man working there because he got the paper work wrong so the sale folded. The sales manager slapped him in the face with the folder in front of everyone. It was brutal.
