Yes it is. It's on French part of the island. Dutch part has those awesome super cheap electronic and diamond stores, cruise ships dock on Dutch part too. Watching planes land just feet above your head is fun, but it's more fun to be on a beach when planes take off. The draught of air throws you 50 years into the sea. I love St. Maarten. One of the cleanest islands in the Caribbean :D

Yea wee used to own a place there, it got blown away in a hurricane some years ago. It's funny how everything changes when you cross from Dutch to French boarder, architecture, roads....Sailing to nearby Angilla is an added bonus too

Hong Kong, Chep Lap Kok airport.

The descent into this airport, which, although originally built on the outskirts of the city, ended up right in the heart of the harbour, was incredible.

The side of a mountain was painted in large orange and white checkers, to idicate to pilots once they saw that, to haul ass to the right. As a passenger, you'd skirt low over HK, esp Sham Shui Po, and could see the intricate details below, down to the hanging laundry. Standing in SSP looking up was an experience too.

Landing the other way would see you skim over the harbour, to hit the strip just in time.

Sad it's gone, but flying into Lantau is very scenic still - the approach over the outlying islands at night is simply magical, i miss the place so badly...

I've been diving on Los Roques which is an island archipel for the coast of
Venezuela.....landing there with a small plane is the same......they have to
break hard not to run off on the other side of the island.....landing and
take off was pretty awesome......

I enjoyed one of the best meals of my life on Anqilla. I love St Maarten, but I will take Saba or St Barts over it anyday.
Landing at that airport is always an adventure. I have also held on to the chain link fence during a take off. I was just chatting about this with someone in vegas.
