Vegetarians and vegans are modern day quasi ascetics crying over the pain of chickens and on top of that, idiots. It's a dogma just like religion. It?s a philosophy created by others that ensnares the weak looking for a "cause".how does having a pet harm an animal intrinsically? it doesn't therefore it's fine.
for the record, i am a vegetarian not a vegan.
and for the record, "vegan" is defined not as having to do with animal rights but as being a diet that contains no animal products at all.
I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, to be specific, though i don't eat many eggs. just don't really like them much - or scared of them.
also, you don't NEED to be hulk hogan or arnold schwartz to be strong, and how strong to you NEED to be anyway?
nutrition comes from plants - PERIOD.
you get nutrition from animals because they eat plants.
some of the nutrition in animal food is sythesized by the animal itself - fine, eat animal products that don't intrinsically require death or pain to the animal - like cheese or whatever.
you'll be strong enough - trust me.
Homo sapiens are omnivores, we can and require both meat and plants to survive. It's our biological imperative to survive.
If you eat only plants and don't take artificial supplements, you will die.Comment

It's not "dogma" it's quite thoughtful and philosophical. I don't wish to harm others more than necessary to a reasonable degree. What is dogmatic or ascetic about that?Vegetarians and vegans are modern day quasi ascetics crying over the pain of chickens and on top of that, idiots. It's a dogma just like religion. It?s a philosophy created by others that ensnares the weak looking for a "cause".

Homosapiens are BARELY omnivores. Plants and animal products are the ideal diet for health. There is no need to harm animals in obtaining animal products. Meat is not required for our "biological imperative to survive."Comment

Just for the record I don't call myself a "vegan", its almost impossible to live that way, just a vegetarian. Vegans avoid all animal products, no leather, etc.
My fox stoles are already dead, and my closet is full of leather jackets, and they are going nowhere. But I'm not about to start collecting skins either.
and don't get me started on my shoe collection. Many animals died for those too. I have so many they'll probably rot before I wear them out. And in Louisiana its all broken cobblestone or grass. Heels are out of the question here, pretty indefinitely til I move.

OK,
the shy ones,
here is my version of a good vegetarian dinner:
MikeW brought
muskrats

to our kitchen along with pressure cooker.
We used an old recipe by MikeW' mother and Dorchester County Cookbook which belonged to MikeW's GRANDMOTHER!
I felt like I went back to the days of my youth when my mother cooked the rabbit. I expected less and got more.
Very pleasant surprise.
Less adventurous in food were not forgotten and got the
lamb chops, scottadito style.
The pairing wines:
1964 Renato Ratti Barolo
High neck ulage - something unusual for the 42 years old wine. The bottom of the cork was disintegrating, but the wine was A OK, brick orange peel color, plenty of refreshing acidity and no unusual smells.
Vibrant fruit, leather, porcini mushroom and was quite delightful wine.
2 more bottles left.
2000 Chateau Pavie Decesse
After having 2001 Pavie, I was mentally prepared for the worst and was pleasantly surprised.
Not a big hairy monster at all. I haven't found "wow" and "Holy Toledo", despite the fact that this wine good pairing with muskrats.
I'd probably buy it again @ $110 but not a penny more.***************************************

Owning a pet infringes on it's right to be truly free,
denies it's ability to roam the wilds uninhibited
and it's freedom to eventually be eaten by another animal. (if it doesn't die of starvation first)Promote Wildmatch, ImLive, Sexier.com, and more!!

many animals are domestic by nature, and do not wish to roam the wild.
a lot of things infrings on one's right to be "free" but are not therefore necisarrily bad - such as marriage for example.
I'm sure an animal would gladly give up it's right to be eaten.Comment

Not one bit of substance in a word they speak
When they get outspoken it's only with the weak
See these wars they're happening and then you're aksing why
But just stop by any slaughterhouse and hear the animals cry
You missed the point it's over your head
I guess you'd rather be negative instead
You can't account for these things you've done
I'll bet you think this MOI is funComment

Cats are the same, we make up their names and our love for them is real.
Listen up, I gotta ask you, how can we be so cruel?
You say you care, that's a lie.
My true compassion is for all living things and not just the ones who are cute so I do what I can.
I wanna save lives and I've got a plan.
Under the table he'll eat your dinner like the veggies we can't stand.
What kind of meal would he make?
We don't want to ask it.
Tradition is all that keeps him alive.
Listen up, I gotta ask how can we be so cruel?
You say you care, that's a lie.
My true compassion is for all living things and not just the ones who are cute so I do what I can.
I wanna save lives and I've got a plan.
Why am I so upset.
Don't even own a pet.
I am not trying to press my will.
I am not the first to say...
THOU SHALT NOT KILL
Full is all you want to feel.
We eat to stay alive, but it's their lives we steal.
I think we'd like to change,
but most of us are stuck, that's why cats and dogs have
ALL THE LUCKRoss Horwitz
