    MONTREAL - Montreal police donned riot gear and moved in to make multiple arrests after an initially peaceful demonstration by Quebec students protesting tuition fee hikes took a destructive turn Tuesday night.

    What started as a noisy but fairly orderly march began to turn rowdy near Montreal?s Convention Centre in the city's Chinatown district late Tuesday night when several bottles and chunks of ice were thrown at police watching the crowd

    60 arrested as protests resume.

    A masked vandal broke a window at a Scotiabank branch on René Lévesque Blvd. and University St. A short time later, several students booed as the same group of troublemakers smashed windows at a Desjardins branch on Viger St.

    What are they bitching about? "their displeasure over tuition hikes that will see their fees increase by about $70 a year".

    I love Montreal, but sometimes it fucking sucks.

                      Man, this is only tolerated in Montreal... you would never see this in Quebec city. Montreal is a dead city anyway with all the scandals from the CHARBONNEAU COMISSION.

                      I dont think it will last much longer... Those are all illegal manifestation .. buttolerated so far by the police...

                      Now business downtown are loosing money, Poeple that work are getting late everyday to their meeting from all this bullshit...

                                                          My cousin just graduated from college - along with his fiance.

                                                          She lived at home the entire time supported by her parents. She has a $120k school loan and just accepted her first "real job" at age 24 as a shrink at a grade school.

                                                          My cousin went to the same college and got the same degree, worked full time PLUS worked for the college in the book store AND the admission office AND dorm supervisor... He owes something on his school loan and just accepted a job at Intel making $200k a year.

                                                              If you have something that you feel strongly about and want to protest, you do it. It is your right, and in fact its one of our most important rights. We're lucky we get to speak-up against the government, police etc.

                                                              What my problem with these students are:

                                                              The Masks. The fact that they are hiding behind the masks takes away any credibility. They aren't there to protest and get their voices heard. If they have something to SAY, they have no reason to hide their identities. SPEAKING out is not against the law.

                                                              They are complaining about a $70.00 per year increase. $70!!! Are none of these students taking economics? Imagine if they took on a part-time job instead of protesting. They could earn $70 quickly instead of looking like assholes and ruining a city.

                                                              I guess none of them take psychology either. If they did they might realize they are caught up in basic mob mentality and following a few idiots who think its cool to be on youtube while the cause damage to property and behave like jerks instead of doing effective protesting.

                                                                  id wear a mask just to give a big middle finger. i don't want cops filming me for practicing my fundamental constitutional rights, or do i want them to try and put me in jail for protecting my identity from their international shake down organization

                                                                  and $70? you bet. Take that money outta the oodles of contractor corruption, the severe mob/police fuckbuddy relationship.. anything but STUDENTS

                                                                  they enjoy the lowest tuition in the country
