Network card buy an 10 or 100Mbit pcmcia card....they cost
next to nothing...setup tcp/ip connection and copy the files
over....should be done within an hour....
I can advise to make zip file of everything. Large files go faster
than a lot of small files.

Oh and in case you don't use a hub/switch you need a cross wired
ethernet cable....to else you can't hook the 2 nics together.

Try 1394 (named FireWire or S400 as well) - 400 mb/sec if your laptop is equipped with it (SONY Vaio for example). We use 1394 for captured video exchange. Another way I can recommend is Ethernet connection (100 mb/sec only).WATCH MORE PORN

Your best bet is to use Ethernet. Get a cross-over cable from your local supplier, or better yet get some help from someone technical who can set it up in minutes. File-transfer over USB requires a special cable, generally... So far all of the suggestions except Ethernet have required a lot of work, or extra hardware. Most machines have ethernet...

Go and buy an Archos MP3 player... you can store there up to 20Gb of MP3s (or normal data) and connect it via USB... it's simple and straightfoward...
