                      True story? Hahaha, of course not. But yes, research on using viruses to treat cancer is being done. However, mostly in a completely different way than portrayed in the movie.

                                                                                                                              I sincerely doubt Richard Matheson based his novel on that film.

                                                                                                                              On the other hand - considering what he did to Asimov's I, Robot - I have to give you the benefit of the doubt.
