Im not shocked or surprised that web hosts treat their customers like that but people are very enlightened nowadays. How do bluehost make money when they treat clients that way, afterall web hosting is such a competitive business ?
Treat your clients good and it will spread.
I would advise both of you to write a review of your experiences with bluehost
here, that way others will see what's going on.
