Webmaster Tools reset my "links to your site"..???

Hey everyone. I have been having severe traffic issues lately, and I have no idea why.

At first I thought it was due to the Superbowl, but now I am sure it wasn't. My site has gone from PR 0 to PR 1, and now gets less than half the traffic. I went in to googles webmaster tools and checked out the "links to your site" section. My main site has gone from links to your site: 57,100 to 1. Some site called seoprofile. I have no idea what it is.

My other site went from "links to your site" 2850 to 26.

Can you guys check out your webmaster tools and see if that section has changed lately?
Or would anyone have any idea why it would do this, especially after moving from PR 0 to PR 1? I am wondering if others have this same problem or if it is just me.

Also, where have all the links to my site gone? I have checked them out and they are still all there.

I am really confused, and would love any help you guys can offer.

Funny, someone I'm talking to just mentioned this. His site went from 700+ backlinks, to 1.

How long does this penalty last, and is there anything I can do about it?

When did he first notice? I first noticed today, but traffic has gone to the shitter since Feb 2.

I am still getting hits from google, but far far less than before.. This really sucks

today, and it was mentioned about 10 minutes before your post.

I checked mine as well and one site went from 20,000 backlinks down to 9,600.

From the way you described the problem, it sounds like you have a penalty.

Do this:

google...

"allinanchor:your key words"

replace "your key words"... with your key words.

Does your site place in that search but not in normal google searches? If so, you likely have a penalty.

Also, if it's a google penalty for my site, why did my other site get it too? Also, why did they upgrade my site from PR0 to PR1..? They must have changed something about how linking works...

Hey thanks for the help. I have tried your tip with one of the main search terms.
with allinanchor the site appears on page 7 at the top.
with just a regular search term under the same keyword it appears bottom of page 2.

Took me 2 searches... first was seoprofile.com, the next seoprofile.net

You have seoprofile as the single link into your site... sounds kinda strange to me.

My site is new, but I did lose a few links to my site in GWT. At the same time, my site has received a huge increase in traffic from google, however.

I was so so worried because my traffic has sunk below sea level
I recently just noticed that in webmaster tools the "how your site is linked" before had irrelevant keywords, and had changed this morning to actually relevant keywords as how my site was linked before. The number of links to my site though remains at 1.. previously way way more

Also, I checked Bing Webmaster Tools and found that everything is still fine and dandy over there.

Supposedly the error isnt affecting your ranking, so I'm not sure why your traffic would have dropped it it's even related to this.

Hey, I took some pictures so you can all see what I was talking about.
You'll see they are right around the same date as the latest google change & after my "links to your site" went to 0 from a previous high number.

(Analytics)

(Webmaster Tools)

The only thing that changed during that drop was my site ranked up from PR0 to PR1, and my "links to your site" changed to 1

Update: I have just checked my webmaster tools and the "links to your site" have now come back. I have MORE links to my sites now than previously before they vanished after the PR rank up.

SERPS is still down, but, I am guessing that this is because all the missing links to my site are being "re-built" in googles serp. I could be wrong, but I think I may be on to something.

Anyone else notice you missing links came back today?
