No matter what you think of the looks... Cadillac is very quite about their engine technology which is pretty advanced. They were the 1st to develop a multi-ratio transmission and have some pretty quick vehicles especially considering their additional weight from all the luxury BS

one thing is sure, caddy is shutting down the northstar plant in 2010. no more v8's in the future for caddy. they'll use the vette engine for the V series cars and 6 cylinders for all the other stuff. -bmb
You could just hope the engine kicks ass, there better be something to make up for this fugly design.
I personally find BMW's about the ugliest car on the road, right up there with any mazda or nissan. I didn't like the cts at first however the 08 cts is a nice looking car to me. and I really like the coupe concept. -bmb
fucking ugly car.....US cars suck anyway....plastic cars, cheap bad finished
interiors and they need a 6 Liter engine to get the same performance out of
them as a European car with a 1.4 liter engine.

Horsepower is ALWAYS a function of fuel and air. That is to say, you don't make magic engines in Europe.

No we don't, you guys just make shit engines.....check it yourself compare
any European car engine with US car engine and compare the specs.....I'm
not making this up.

actually I'm not interested in a car that has to rev a 1.4 litter motor up th 16K rmp to pull out of a parking place. I LIKE muscle cars and if you've never had the privilege of driving one you don't what your missing. in my vette I can drive around all day and never go above 2K on the rpm if I don't want to . -bmb

I say again, horsepower is always a function of fuel and air.
In order to make X amount of power, you need at a min. y amount of air and z amount of fuel. There's no way around that.
So a 4.0 litre engine making 200 horsepower versus a 2.0 litre engine making 200 horsepower is going to use more or less the same amount of fuel. Engine effeciency is not all that different between Europe and the USA.
Christ in 1990 Chevy was putting out 2.3 litre quad valve engines making 180 horsepower and yet you think Europe is so much more advanced in engine design?

most european cars nowadays have the lowpressure turbo diesel engines and a 6 gear transmission. these engines are very efficient. these versions were not avail in the us as their carbon emission do not pass US standards, in other words, the engines were polluting too much. it sounds like they are now getting very close to fixing this fault so that the engines can be available on US imports this year sometime, VW and Audi have announced already..
