Didnt amazon AWS release a dirt cheap service that does this same thing?
Not the same thing. For start our application, Tremendum Transcoder, is a self hosted solution. Your media does not leave your server to a 3rd party company. This means no extra bandwidth consumed in the transfer process and enhanced privacy. Also, being self hosted means that you don't need to worry about how much it would cost you, as those 3rd party services normally charge you by volume.
Our program is designed to work in a server alongside other services, making the transcoding process really simple. Once setup, all that is needed to convert your media files is uploading them and clicking the start button.
It has many more features that make it different from 3rd party cloud encoding services, such as advanced input and output filters, filename templates, skip rules, configurable queue sorting, and more features easy to configure that don't require you to be a programmer accessing some 3rd party service API.
Have a look at our website, or simply download the demo version ;)
Good to see some new alternative encoding product offerings.
Please list a few clients/references.
Oh yeah, and welcome to GFY, now

Competition is good for innovation ;)
We have some adult industry clients who are using it to feed content regularly to their cms.
Another used it recently to process their whole carma cms_data folder to provide html5 video formats to their members, making use of the advanced features of our program, such as filename templates with variables and regular expressions, file input filtering and queue sorting options.
A video producer is using it to generate various different formats for each of his input videos, which are 35mbps mpeg-2 straight out from FCP editing, and he is very happy with the simplified work flow.
However I'm not naming any client, as we do respect the privacy they expect from us and our services.
I see that you offer a video compression service to your customers. We focus in self hosted software instead, for customers that want to handle video transcoding themselves.
You are welcome to give a try to our demo, it may be of use to you

Not sure where you got the idea that I am a competitor or offer a video compression service to my customers, because I am an independent producer director/shooter/editor/webmaster of my own exclusive content.
If anything, I am a prospective client.
I have a few specific questions and will possibly try your demo. I'll send you an e-mail later.
