I have 3 Quadcore pc's and I know that my slowest one is less expensive and faster than any of your iMac, eMac, g4, g5, g6, MacPro, Macbook, imacbackpack, mac pro and the MacMac.
i got a new imac
2ghz intel core 2 duao
2gb of ram (upgraded)
came with a nice keyboard and the mighty mouse is honestly the best mouse i've ever used.
Yeah, I love the mouse too .. there is not a single mouse on the planet that scrolls as nice.
Unfortunate there's no real good way to clean them without breaking it,cause I've been through quite a few of them over the last year, but I finally found a way to clean it out real nice, only it's a HUGE pain in the fucking ass and takes about an hour to get it back to how it came in the box, but at least it works :D
I've got the new wireless keyboard too, absolutely amazing to type on, and despite the new style keys I don't have trouble typing unless I'm drunk.

I'm sure you do...
Makes me wonder what quality components you used if you managed a quadcore for under $1200.
I used to build shitty systems for cheap too, enjoy your shitboxes ;)
Im all for choice and all but i really wish Jobs would just pack up all his evangelical elitist followers Like iMind and go live in iraq. Everytime you feel the need to single out and ridicule someone because of a choice, it really says something about you. You should be thinking, you use Vista, meh, your loss.
I use a "shitbox" instead of a Mac. My gain, really.
I have been enlightened for the past 14 years and have enlightened dozens of others.

I got a macbook not long ago and switched to the new imac this week. Still trying to get used to this thing. So far I have several complaints.
1. Mightymouse and keyboard SUCK SHIT. I am used to a Logitech G9 mouse and a G15 keyboard. I know I can use them on this machine but I wanted to try the dafault setup to see what all the hype is about.
2. No good FTP client. I have tried transmit, cyberduck, yummy ftp and none of them even come close to flashfxp for windows. I need to change transfer modes and permissions a LOT when I FTP and these options are always relatively difficult to access compared to flashfxp.
3. No real blogging client. Ecto is the best mac has to offer. It can't even get close to the new windows live writer.
4. Oddball behavior when using cmd+tab to switch between apps. It doesn't work anything like windows alt+tab works. I finally learned that if I "minimize" a window using cmd+h then it can be maximized using cmd+tab like windows.
Now on to the things that I DO like:
Quicksilver - Sweet Jesus I love this thing. There is nothing like it on PC.
Coda - Great for guys who code like I do. Sometimes I download a file, make a few edits to the code and upload it again or run a script via the shell to do a task. This makes it all possible from one application.
VMWare Fusion - Uses a boot camp partition and lets you run win apps in os x. This works surprisingly well. I was shocked how well it worked. This saved me a couple thousand bucks. I have a license for Adobe CS3 for Windows but not for mac. Without this I would have had to purchase CS3 for my mac.
I use a macbook on the road and i like it.. but it could never replace my pc because i get annoyed with a few little things thats part of the mac experience.
cut and paste from a list that captured it just about right:
#
- Apps Don't Really Close When You Close Them.
When I close the last window of something, why is it still running? I know the command-Q shortcut, but that's a dangerous habit. Using the shortcut instead of clicking close just means that I'm more likely to accidentally close another window of the same app, not realizing that I still have it open. Computers are supposed to keep up with this stuff for us. That's
#
- Maximizing Is Broken.
How hard can this be? Seriously. If you want to be different, that's cool, but not when it means being broken. When I maximize something, it should take up the whole screen. Get it? Leaving little gaps everywhere just means that I'll bring another app to the foreground when I accidentally click on it.
#
- Alt-Tab to a Minimized App, and It Stays Minimized.
(Yes, I know it's really command-tab, but who says that?) There are lots of reasons why alt-tab on the Mac sucks, and this is one of them. Combine this with the fact that apps don't really close when you close them, and the result is alt-tab pollution. You switch apps, but nothing happens. Is the app closed? Is it minimized? It is just the damn Finder again?

- No Dedicated Page Up, Page Down, Home, or End Keys.
I didn't realize how much I used these until they were gone. Can't we get rid of some of those option keys to make room? Even if we can't, do we really need two command keys? And how about that extra enter key? Get rid of those, and at least give us home and end.

that's a pretty cool program, I'm gonna try it out. I'm currently using bbedit, but this looks way better

I use quicksilver like luanchers all the time on my pc. Heres the full list of programs that are" something like" Quicksilver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari...tion_launchers
I personally use Dash on my vista

Who gives a fuck ..... This is like arguing about price differences between Mercedes and BMW models. I prefer Mercedes but I'll bet the BMW's are a little less expensive and have a bit more performance model to model ..... But once again who gives a fuck?

I know. I have tried a lot of them. Quicksilver is infinitely better. It's a lot more complicated but once you figure it out it is amazing. I don't know if I have tried Dash or not. I will have to check it out. When I am on my PC I feel a little gimped without QS. I need to find something.

I recently drove a friends brand new top of the line Lexus, compared to the BMW and Mercedes it's a much better car .... or is it? Once again who gives a shit?
@Babaganoosh
I will keep my eyes posted oout for a PC Quicksilver alternative. Just be careful not to fall into the trap that if it isnt a Mac version, it isnt worth using. I have a boss like that. He loves macs. I love PCs. He laughs everytime my computer makes a burp. I laugh at him everytime he wants to try out any new game I play. I honestly believe that it is a matter of preference regarding to choose a Mac or a PC. I cant function on a Mac. Dont know why, its like living in La-La- Alice in Wonderland for me. Get me on a PC though, and I can fall back on 15 year experience. Also note, I can compute circles around my boss when its Mac VS. PC

BEWARE! My husband, after owning about 6 Mercedes and 2 BMWs, bought a Lexus and gave it back after 6 months. At 135 MPH the RPM governor would kick in and the damn thing would slow down. Took an attorney for them to take the shitbox back, but they did. Who g.a.s.

Nah, I will try hard to never become "that guy." I have been using a PC most of my adult life. I don't see myself ever replacing my PCs completely. I am a serious gamer so I will always have the latest and greatest PC stuff too. I'm looking at building a new machine this spring so I will be ready when Age of Conan comes out.

I'll go one further and say i can't tell the difference between my Nissan Xterra and a Lexus 4x4.
But you obviously give a shit. You Mac fans have always been so touchy when someone disses on your over-hyped machines.
Another thing about the Macheads(as an artist I've known many personally) is that they keep the same computer for like 5 years because they wuv their precious wittle Mac so fucking much and they have to jizz on it every day. The machine is not very hardware upgrade friendly, so they're not going to throw away an investment on a whole computer when they need something faster.
So while your windexing your pretty white 3 year old outdated box, I'll be upgrading to the fastest cpu available every year.
But as a 3D artisist, I need it. yeah, I know who gives a shit?

I hate to break it to you, but it isn't 1987 anymore and we aren't sitting on our Mac IIe's ;)
The new Intel Mac's are so easy to upgrade the hardware on. It took my husband almost a full minute to upgrade my memory on my iMac. He also upgraded my CPU in less time that it takes him on his PCs. Even he (who is a PC user) commented on how slick the new Mac's are to work on.

What sort of Mac are you using? Right next to that extra enter key on my MacBook, I've got home, end, page up, page down...

That's exactly right. Also: Smart Windows users run their operating system on a Mac because it performs better:
