It's really next to impossible to predict how much server power someone needs for a tube...all the vids are different bitrates, you don't know how the users will behave (1 video each or 10 each, watch whole video or 10 seconds and move to the next one around in it, or skip around in one video, etc)...too many variables.

Yeah that's a pretty good point. I imagine they could be a nightmare to scale depending on how operations were. 300K of basically static pages would be rather simplistic. But I imagine 300,000 30m+ videos would be another story.
