The poor guy looks like he's shell-shocked or suffering from caffeine withdrawal every time he opens his mouth. He seriously needs someone to help calm him down and explain that a successful presidential strategy takes at least a little personality and mic skills!

Whatever his message is, it gets lost in his rants and almost incoherent debate answers. But hey, the porn guys here seem to love him ...

          Kane,

Post a pic of yourself here, so we can see what you look like and so the shallow people can decide if they want to do business with you.

          Is that your logic?

Maybe we should nominate Jessica Simpson. Does she look good enough?

Well, anyone that has been paying attention to the election race knows there are candidates that think we need to forever be in the middle east. This is no big secret (although it may be to some).

As for bases around the world you can argue for and against them. Ultimately we now live in a global economy and we have interest all over the world. Have our military in various places helps us to have a presence there and secure many of our interest. I'm not saying it is right, but that is one of the reasons we have them there.

I could give a shit how he looks. I have never cared what a candidate looks like. The point of this thread, however, is that in modern presidential politics looks do matter. Charisma and charm do matter.

There is a famous part in a movie called primary colors which is about Bill Clinton's first run for president where he, during a debate with the first George Bush, leaves his planned talking points and goes off the cuff. He owns Bush at that moment and really makes himself stand out. Backstage his team is talking and one of them said that they nearly had a heart attack when he did that. Another said, "yeah, he scared us, but who on that stage looked like the president?" That is the point. Ron Paul comes off as a nice, if not somewhat goofy guy that has some interesting ideas, but he doesn't seem very "presidential" and in this society that is what many people want. I'm not saying it is right, I'm just saying that is how it is.

Dude, you need to actually read what I have been writing in the post. In many aspects of our society looks really don't matter. In many other aspects of our society they do matter. What I am saying is that when people pick the person they want to vote for one of the main things many people look at is how the candidate looks and how they carry themselves. I don't know why they do this, I'm sure there are a million reason why they do this, but it is done. There are many people that say LBJ would never have been elected in the modern era because of his physical problems and he was considered by many to be one of the best presidents we have ever had.

Why is Obama suddenly blowing up? A huge part of it is because he is a good looking dude that has charisma in spades. He hasn't said anything of substance, but last night on CNN they actually had a guy compare him to Abe Lincoln. People want a president that looks and acts presidential. Ron Paul doesn't look or act the part. I'm sorry to sound shallow. I personally don't care, but millions of people do. It's a sad reality of the modern world.

Okay, he does look like the muppet guy. He does look goofy. He does seems like he is a decent guy. He has some interesting ideas. He also has some ideas I don't agree with. I have said from the start of this thread that he is like every candidate out there. He says things I like and he says things I don't like.

This thread was simply a statement of my opinion. My opinion is if he wants to make any kind of noise he should stay off TV because he looks goofy and comes across as kind of strange guy.

I'm not saying I am better or better looking or any less goofy, but I'm not running for president. When you decide to run for president and you go on national TV you open yourself up to criticism. Millions (well at least a few million) of people watch Leno. How many of them out there saw him and thought the same thing as me? I'm sure I am not the only one.

Is your favorite restaurant running for president? Does it represent the country as a whole to the rest of the world? Probably now.

no it didnt... you are letting your imagination run wild here... you keep associating truth with earth shattering secrets which a misinterpretation I assure you.. Truth equals his message, his views on the war, economy, etc.. simple as that..

Correct me if im wrong but your logic seems to be, if Paul has said something 1 time, why whould Fox be afraid of him saying it a second time? Might as well do only one debate no? 1, if something isnt repeated, people forget.. thats why you ll never a tv ad appear only one time.. 2, not everyone watch all the debates

lolz. You seriously think you had an open mind? You were totally ready to change your political views, and your life's worth of learning at the start of the Jay Leno show last night?

Cmon man.. You were looking to see if he fit with your views of what a president is supposed to look, act, talk and be like. He didn't fit because he smiles, laughs and speaks about what he believes in.

Unlike every other candidate, who says what they think you want to hear, and what their staff wrote for them to say, so they get through this horrible period where they need to pretend like they care about the public.

As soon as they get into office, they *might* visit and get somewhat near you plebes, IF there is some sort of national disaster, and your state voted in their parties favour.

This thread title: "Ron Paul goes on Leno and kills any chance of winning. "
                                      is BULLSHIT!

                                      Why you ask?
Because he was already on the Leno show back in October 2007. Link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LZyH...eature=related

And the fact of the matter is he is even stronger now than he was back in October.

So do you see why you are wrong?

If you get a chance look at the clip i posted in here from his appearance in October 2007.

There is a ton of footage of all the people that turned out to get tickets for the Tonight Show. Broke all records.

This thread title: "Ron Paul goes on Leno and kills any chance of winning. "
                                        is BULLSHIT!

                                        Why you ask?
Because he was already on the Leno show back in October 2007. Link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LZyH...eature=related

And the fact of the matter is he is even stronger now than he was back in October.

So do you see why you are wrong?

If you get a chance look at the clip i posted in here from his appearance in October 2007.

There is a ton of footage of all the people that turned out to get tickets for the Tonight Show. Broke all records.

I think Ron Paul just goes after the intellectual vote. Unfortunately, that probably does mean he'll lose.

Obama and Ron paul are the only sane candidates, the rest are bible bashing extremeists.

Blame the Democrats for Bush's second term, they nominated Kerry.

Blame the Democrats if a Republican gets elected this time too. As far as your contention of who is qualified, you are an idiot.

Actually yes, I have a very open mind. I will admit I know about as much about Ron Paul as I do about the other candidates. I follow politics pretty closely and have been paying some attention to the build up to the elections. I haven't paid a ton of attention until recently because the first 9 months they all repeat the same talking points over and over again.

So yes, I tuned into Leno to see Ron Paul on the show and hear what he had to say. About half way through the interview I started to feel sorry for him. As I said in multiple posts he seems like every other candidate out there. he has some good ideas and some bad ideas (at least in my opinion) but I found myself thinking, "to bad he will never get elected. He just doesn't look and act the part." That doesn't mean I need someone that looks right and blows smoke up my ass and sells me lies to be a candidate I like. I actually prefer someone of substance. But I am not the majority in this country and that is sad.

Of course in the end Ron Paul is just selling his supporters a pipe dream as well. If he were to catch lightning in a bottle and make it to the white house do you think for one second the house and senate will let him do half the stuff he talks about doing? Change in this country. . . in any country, unless by violent revolution comes slowly, not with one election.

                                                              is BULLSHIT!

                                                              Why you ask?
Because he was already on the Leno show back in October 2007. Link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LZyH...eature=related

And the fact of the matter is he is even stronger now than he was back in October.

So do you see why you are wrong?

If you get a chance look at the clip i posted in here from his appearance in October 2007.

There is a ton of footage of all the people that turned out to get tickets for the Tonight Show. Broke all records.
Well, I just watched this. He comes off a lot better in this video than he did last night. Maybe last night he was tired or jet lagged or something like that. He also has a lot better points in this appearance. When he talks about Iraq and defense he makes a lot of sense, last night he is trying to explain how we are partially to blame for terrorism and it came off as being very odd.

He's very cordial and doesn't blow smoke or put on some bullshit poker face. He seems very real as well as very smart to me.
