I have a custom desktop that is now starting to show it's age, and a laptop that's not much better. Lately I've preferred working on the laptop over the PC though since I can go anywhere in the house. Windows all the way, for me. Nothing against mac or linux, I just grew up with Windows and never had a serious problem with it. It has the tools I need to get the job done.
Desktop PC. Dual Quad Core Xeon, 16GB Ram. You will not get a mac with this hardware for the price. I can't work on a laptop unless its connected to a larger monitor. I can do small amounts of work on the road no problem. But daily use I have to have a desktop.
At the moment I'm using a fast Win7 PC Desktop for video editing as I like Sony Vegas, and a Mac laptop. This combo works out well for me, I keep a lot of smaller files synced through dropbox, and larger ones on external USB drives. Lots of Linux machines around which I use for servers.
I use 2 Laptops with one having an external monitor for extra things. No issues for me at all and find that they are best as I don't live in the US most of the year and the electricity here tends to fluctuate a lot. Even with the regulators, my wifes desk top has problems some times.
My editing / working rig is a Windows 7 pc desktop I built myself.
I7 With 16GB RAM and Raid 0 for video editing.
I'm writing this on my Android Asus Transformer Infinity

The Surface Pro is where it'll be at for mobility once they ship.
By the way, for all you knowitall Mac lovers... the Surface Pro will have a mini displayport... so so much for all that nonsense about macs having superior hardware... lol
Well, let's hope it sells more than the other surface, because that is nothing but an embarrassing failure.
I think the 4 hour battery life will be a problem for the Pro in terms of mobility.
A lot of us are waiting for the Pro model. Or I would have bought the regular one. I also have 2 friends that will be switching from their icraps to the surface pro.
If anybody is working on his laptop instead on his desktop he is not doing the smart thing. I am talking about in office, not on travel of course. Its just stupid to work on laptop in the office. Desktops are for that.

The pro model will be full fledged windows, fully capable of running all standard windows software, plus app from the windows store or w/e they call it...
Android is OS, we are talking about hardware.
So what hardware is it?
