Hard to argue with it. We have much to regret. I know that most Americans are great people, but too many of us are lacking in education - and that's no accident. The powers that be don't want an educated electorate. Public education is constantly under attack from the right wing. It is natural for the most powerful country to be sniped at by others, and to have meaningless statistics such as populace obesity exaggerated into some sort of vulnerability.
Certainly the US as a world actor has much to answer for, but, as the intelligent posters have pointed out, those actions are the result of an increasingly disconnected government rather than individuals. Most US citizens are decent people, if somewhat insular. The average IQ is 100.
