    Mass Shootings, Terrorists, Guns, Porn.......

    Mass Shootings, Terrorists, Guns, The Westboro Baptist church, SallyRand, Trekkies, MrMaxwell, Porn and all the other things that people would like to see laws passed to prevent are merely part of the cost of living in a free society.

    You can't have both security and freedom because they are pretty much opposites. At some point you have to choose, do I want safety and security or do I want freedom?

    If you choose safety and security than you have to give up freedom. That is the price.

    If you choose freedom then you choose to live with the lunacy that is human society. That is the price.

          What freedoms are we talking about giving up?

          I'm getting on an airplane in a few days to fly to Vegas, and I'll be searched - pretty much exactly like I was searched thirty-five years ago during my first plane flight. If the government wants to read my email, text messages, listen in on my phone calls... Pretty fucking boring stuff really.

          We are going to turn our schools into fortresses, and then guess what - the shooter will get into the school and no one will be able to get out...

                      It is a very slippery slope.

                      Flying used to be a lot of fun. The first time I flew was in 1972. No security, just buy your ticket and climb on board.

                      Then all the Cuban hijackings happened and they put in the metal detectors. Next thing they are making you take off your shoes, then 911 happened and we went to pat downs, now xray machines.

                      I no longer fly unless absolutely necessary. It is no fun anymore.

                      Government eavesdropping is a direct infringement of the 4th and 5th amendments. I just want to be able to think and discuss what I want without having to worry about some government agent taking something the wrong way and putting my name on some list that I won't find out about until the next time I try to fly.

                      I do not want our schools to be fortresses. School shootings have been occurring in the US since the beginning of our country. Never before have we insisted on armed guards or armed faculty and I don't see why we need it now.

                      First one listed is 1764 and it was a mass shooting involving children.

                      The earliest known United States shooting to happen on school property was the Pontiac's Rebellion school massacre on July 26, 1764, where four Lenape American Indians entered the schoolhouse near present-day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and killed nine or ten children (reports vary). Only three children survived.[1]
